Sandown Park Friday, Lingfield Park yesterday! Spent the afternoon with these reprobates. After an 8 race marathon card, I was left light in pocket but blessed in friendship. #horseracing

If you’re enjoying #JackReacher you’ll love my novel ‘The Killing Fraternity’ which you can order on Amazon or, because it has an ISBN number (see photo), you can order it from your local bookshop.

Being London born, one of my favourite photography assignments was being hired by the marketing team at Epsom Racecourse. Keen to build a photo stock library of their own, they hired me at every Derby Meeting 2004/2013. Here I showcase 30 of my favourite photos from that period #horseracing

📖 BEHIND THE BOOK - 4 This is the bookies in Nottingham upon which Shouting The Odds is based. I sometimes worked there, so the sights, sounds and characters were never entirely invented. Today, a microbrewery stands in its place - and another small piece of old Nottingham has passed into memory ..

📖 BEHIND THE BOOK - 3 Hong Kong means "The Fragrant Harbour" in Cantonese. I first visited in 1997 and was captivated by its racing culture, where lucky colours and numbers hold special meaning. Years later, a little of that inspiration found its way into my debut novel Shouting The Odds.

📖 BEHIND THE BOOK - 2 A theme running through Manvers Road Star was inspired by Ray Charles - not just his music but something deeper. Namely, his ability to adapt when circumstances in his life changed beyond his control. Its an idea that stayed with me and found its way onto the pages of my book.

📖 BEHIND THE BOOK -1 While writing Manvers Road Star, I found myself drawn to one remarkable episode from the career of the late trainer John Dunlop. It reminded me that the best horsemen are often those prepared to look beyond convention. The idea lingered & eventually became part of the story.

📖 Shouting The Odds began with an idea I had in a Nottingham pub after hearing Shane Meadows talk about scriptwriting in the 1990s. Years later, the novel i wrote is being added to the collection at Nottingham Central Library. I couldn't have imagined that when I walked out of that pub. #goals

Relieved as I am pleased that Spain won the World Cup. Had Argentina prevailed however, there is no doubt it would have been a more appropriate outcome; their on pitch thuggery and contempt for fairplay mirroring Infantino’s own moral bankruptcy at the head of a jaded, seedy FIFA organisation.
