As part of @naturalengland.bsky.social Species Recovery Programme, @savebutterflies.bsky.social are assessing planted Barberry to evaluate planting success & target management for Barberry Carpet moth. Drought likely impacted numbers, so we were excited to see this larva in Wiltshire! #WildAgain

Nice to get out in the field with some @savebutterflies.bsky.social colleagues in Dorset on Tues - mapping Marsh Fritillary caterpillar webs, taking part in #BigButterflyCount & moth trapping. A very fresh Small Elephant Hawk-moth was surprising in early Aug. #teammoth @dorsetbutterflies.bsky.social

Marsh Fritillary larvae munching their way rapidly through Devil's-Bit Scabious in Dorset. Late July seems the norm now for annual web counts here. Web numbers seem ok, but Devil's-bit Scabious is struggling with the drought on some sites.

I've been unsure of what to post first here but thought I'd start with my recent (ish) paper.
