Note to self... when you have a meeting at a nature reserve, it is always worth going for a quick walk on the reserve. This is the wonderful Crowle Moor in the #HumberheadLevels

The two crane chicks born at Willow Tree Fen this year are flying! What a sight. And another fantastic success story for this nature reserve, which has undergone an incredible transformation since it was bought by the Trust in 2009 as intensively farmed arable land. 📸Crane Watch volunteer Dave Coats
Two young cranes fly with their parents above Willow Tree Fen nature reserve in south Lincolnshire.
The youngsters are getting almost as big as their parents, but don't yet have all their adult feathers, including the distinctive red and black crown, so are easy to tell apart with binoculars.

Right now in Laos, a terrified pangolin is being sold. She has already endured so much; snatched from her home, handled violently, starved and dehydrated. Her only defence is to curl-up. Her fate is in the alt text. It isn't for the faint-hearted but it is the reality for too many pangolins.
Illustration of a pangolin in a bag of netting, held by a human hand.

Trigger warning.
What follows is a description of what will happen to the pangolin based on the undercover reports from Laos of the Agent C Wildlife Initiative.

First, she will be beaten and her throat cut, her blood will drain from her body and be used in fried rice and wine. Then, she will be boiled so her scales can be stripped from her body. Her scales will be ground into a powder so they can be easily transported across borders. Finally, her body will be chopped up and used in soup or braised in soy sauce.

Not only is this cruel, it is illegal. All eight species of pangolin are protected against being hunted, killed and traded under international law.

Happy to see one of the moths I made for the Lincolnshire Show resting on the wall of my house. Even though it's red underwings stayed hidden. #mothsmatter

All the moths I made in May. Connecting with #MothMay has been great; it's lovely to see other people's moth art and it's encouraged me in my creations. These moths will be appearing at the Lincolnshire Show in June, I might make some more but I have to make some bats first 🦇

Red underwing for #MothMay made from felt with a touch of paint. The subtle camouflage and vibrant shock of colour seem like the perfect combination for a moth.

Happy to see @isleofrum.bsky.social and @rumdeerresearch.bsky.social here on BlueSky 💙 We had a wonderful stay on the island in April, every day was magical with crazy skies switching from hail showers to sunshine, sun halos and aurora. And wildlife everywhere; sea + golden eagles, divers, otters...

Two for one on the felt moths for #MothMay. Elephant hawk-moth and large emerald moth. Now I'm wondering about the possibility of making a red underwing.

I've got the days mixed up for the #MothMay challenge but I had to attempt a Mother Shipton moth as I grew up in #Knaresborough, Mother Shipton's home town. Painting on the felt wings turned out better than I expected!
A crafted felt moth resting on ferns. The wings are painted with shapes reminiscent of the face of Mother Shipton, a prophetess born in Knaresborough in North Yorkshire in 1488. The moth bears her name.

My little challenge for #12dayswild was to take a photo of winter colour every day. These are the colours. It may be grey and drab outside but there's always colour to be found. Thank you @the-wildlifetrusts.bsky.social for the Christmas challenge.
