Looking through photos from my eclipse trip and discovered something cool. So, in general, if I take a photo that has the sun in it, there's often a tiny green dot elsewhere on the photo. Well. When the sun is partially eclipsed, instead of a tiny green dot, I get a tiny green crescent!

Spent the afternoon taking care of three medical tests at two different locations. Various parts of my body got scanned using x-rays, sound waves, and really loud magnets.

So Con Edison sends me weekly electricity usage updates (my building has smart meters, I guess). And I apparently used 81% less energy last week than I did the week before! Gee, I wonder why. Could it be because I was in a different country? (But also, I wonder what Con Ed can infer from the data.)

Eclipse! I did NOT expect to have such an amazing view. I was trying to get to a different spot and got detoured and suddenly I was on this bridge and… I stayed there. Well worth braving the 100+ degree weather. Such an awesome experience.

Today, I shared a subway elevator with two other passengers. They asked how to find the Brooklyn Museum once they got out. I said it would be right in front of them. And thus I remembered... the museum is Right. There. And I've learned to just take that for granted. But it's actually pretty special.

Got my physical rewards from @romancingthevote.com - including a bonus tiny dragon! My phone limits how much I can put in the alt text, so see the following posts for what the stickers and magnet say.

Rewards from the Romancing the Vote auction are spread out artfully on a wooden table. There are three 3D printed items: a heart shaped fidget clicker keychain with the colors of the new asexual pride flag, a pink and gold dragon egg fidget, and a purple and black tiny dragon. There’s also a magnet and a set of five stickers.

Got my mystery box from @peculiarityshop.bsky.social! It was such a joy to open it. I think the bracelet with the purple is my favorite. I’d love to know what the stones are and who made each thing!

I have a caseload of schools. Today, I was walking from one school to the next. I walked past two other schools I work in, and both times, I walked straight into the school before remembering it wasn't where I was actually headed. So that's how my brain is doing today. How about yours?

Library update: So I had 29 books out, nearly all of them overdue. Today I: - returned 20 books - checked out 3 of the books I had just returned - checked out 3 more books (because of course I did) I now have 15 books checked out: - 2 travel guides - 2 books for work - 11 to read for pleasure
