Dr. Lachelle Weeks presented interesting data about #CHIP present in #SCD patient and I am surprised to see it as early in childhood (up to 7% by age 11) and how the incidence increases. It was not observed in sickle trait. Unknown are the implications for 🧬 #GeneTherapy #ASH25

Two more points made by Dr. Rau #ASH24 1- despite that Blina has not been tested in Adolescents /HR-ALL but we could probably extrapolate that Blina could also decrease Relapse risk 2- increased risk of grade 3+ infections beyond cycles of Blina #ChildhoodCancer cure more Pts , and to cure better

Update fromBbluebird bio HGB-206 group C and HG -210 study regarding Lovo-cel for #SCD at #ASH24. - Data about 58 patients - 86.8% achieved complete resolution of all VOE - 94.7% had complete reduction of severe VOE - Model to predict likelihood of VOE-CR and sVOE-CR at 6 months

Impressive results about Exa-Cel in TDT from @vertexpharma.bsky.social at #ASH24 - 54 patients - 98% (53/54) had achieved Transfusion free x12 months - the remaining patient is free of RBC Tx for at least 8 months Similar results about safety and efficacy in #SCD

BEACON study initial data @beamforall.bsky.social IN #AS24 - BASE editing in Hgb1/2 for #SCD :7 patients - less collection cycles - faster engraftment in ANC (17 days) and PLT (19 days) - one death - high level of hgb F (>60%) with improvement in total hemoglobin and less hemolysis
