one of the craziest things about australia is that since there isn't road salt you'll occasionally see a listing for something like this incredible 1982 toyota corolla 2-door 'van' hatchback for AU$12k instead of US$10k and another US$20k in labour fixing the body rot

a 1982 toyota corolla van. it's boxy like any late-70s-early-80s Toyota, and has the body shape of an estate wagon with a hatchback on it, but it only has two front doors and the hatch. Roughly half the vehicle's length is rear storage. it's sitting on a dirt road in an idyllic hilly landscape.

the same white corolla van pulled over on the side of a grassy road. the sunset is blooming oranges, pinks, and purples out beyond the distant city, and the car's lights are on in preparation of the coming dark.

The interior of the Corolla, which looks like the inside of any 1980s corolla: vinyl, angles, buttons, switches. Everything looks pretty damn mint. The top of the dashboard is shielded by padded foam carpet laid out over it, and the seats are covered in a furry cover that resembles a poodle's coat in texture. The car is sitting in what looks like a professional garage.

sadly, typically it's more as in "we took a formerly cool bike and took off all the plastics and electrics, also the electrical harness is now made of bees, good luck out there", though sometimes they don't even get that far this post was specifically motivated by the remains of this bmw k100

a stripped BMW motorcycle frame with ape-hanger handlebars set up in a way that seems ergonomically impossible to navigate from the seating position. there's no actual seat, but the front pegs are just even with the swing-arm and it's seemingly built for someone with the proportions of Andre the Giant. there's nothing electrical left on the bike, just a bunch of wires going to nowhere.
