I think you're not necessarily giving Leeds the credit their performance was due here, Met. They played fantastically to break our play for 60 minutes and were good for their lead (no pun intended).

Scott, is there a reason the arsenal goals are yellow? they look like Leeds shots but up the wrong end

Sure. It why should the already elite be allowed to rule football forever. I do have some sympathy for the idea that these rules have pulled up the ladder the same way social media laws have stunted competition of Facebook etc

Is their appeal case really built on the idea that “these legal experts didn’t understand our argument”?

I think the point that people are trying to make when they call it the red cartel is that if there hasn’t been this “completely legal and not cheating investment” in non red clubs who would have won the league continuously for the last 25 years?

Absolute facts! And may I also add that hate speech and misogyny need to be treated with the exact same gravity; cunts like this spouting this kind of vile rhetoric deserve to face actual legal consequences! 🔒

Hmmm. Perhaps you’ve missed the point

Sam Elman @quselman.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
Except… the financial rules were voted on by all the members of the premier league to be laws of the competition. Which they attempted to circumvent and then lied about. and yes, that means they cheated. Oh yes, also most of their crimes predate ffp. But don’t let facts upset your narrative.

Dissipative ground-state preparation on fault-tolerant quantum computers appears prohibitively expensive, but there are ways to make it cheaper, and I think I've found a few so I wrote them down this paper:

Locality and filter design for dissipative ground-state preparation
Ground-state preparation is a fundamental challenge in quantum many-body physics, chemistry and materials science. Dissipative state-preparation techniques engineer a Lindbladian coupling to a bath th...

I mean if it’s precedent it doesn’t have to have happened before, what’s to stop the owners of Newcastle circumventing all the pl rules, then putting pressure on parliament to make it all ok. And why stop there…

I’m Not sure I agree with your first statement. Australia, NZ, the US and Canada are also rife with foreign investments. Nor am I sure how it affects the precedent that this sets that the British government is for sale via the epl

I’m willing to admit that I did miss you. To counter tho, if you’re arguing from the pov of the burnham government, were this to be let slide because of that, doesn’t this set an awful precedent on foreign influence?

I mean science’s whole business model is an absolute joke. Charge (what they like) for the right to publish charge for the right to access that which they published and it works because they’re prestige in print… There’s a first for everything!

Sam Elman @quselman.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
While I agree in principle, I think you’ve got far too much faith in the editor of the news arm of science magazine to do the right thing. They’re just an individual trying to generate clicks for the corporation that pays their salary… and so without incentive to “do the right thing” why would they?

I’m not trying to argue just for arguments sake; I do think this is very interesting, as someone who works in academia (particularly in an age of ai slop, a lack of trust in academia/science and mass misinformation) it’s quite important
010
Sam Elman @quselman.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
Sure but I would argue that if science is the pursuit of knowledge for the sake of such knowledge its definition can’t change because of the process of peer review. And to your 2nd; I guarantee you that the authors of this study also did speak to other computer scientists about this preprint.
210
Sam Elman @quselman.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
Notwithstanding I don’t believe LLMs feel pain and I do agree that it’s somewhat irresponsible for science to publish news about such a preprint without caveat, but peer review can be cheated or circumvented. Not everything that passed peer review is accurate and not everything that didn’t isn’t.
110
Sam Elman @quselman.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
I’ve not read the “study”, so can’t comment on its claims. I’m also not an ai expert so I’d caution about taking anything I say about ai as truth. Science news and science the journal are different arms of the magazine. No scientist is reading this thinking the study has been published in science.

My personal favourite paper that I’ve ever written has yet to be peer reviewed. No one says it’s not science. They say “why won’t it be peer reviewed” to which I answer “no one wants to verify the proof in the appendix”
110
Sam Elman @quselman.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
I’m not sure I agree with that premise. Einstein was famously not peer reviewed until quite late in his career. And newton never. Do we dare say that they were not scientists.

How do you feel about “building lots of housing and regenerating a deprived area” within a country that has, for the majority of its existence, subjected the rest of the world to ridiculous violence. All I might add at the cost of the welfare and lives of people who live and work in the UAE now?

lol are you aware of how the internet works? Why don’t you tell the world more about the rules (that were voted on) aren’t nice and specifically aren’t fair for city and so city shouldn’t have to follow them even though everyone else does?
100
Sam Elman @quselman.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
Wow, do you kiss your mother with that mouth. It’s a bit much for someone who doesn’t even put a name to their words, hides behind anonymity, doesn’t seem to understand how commas work and still can’t process a simple logical clause to have a go at someone else’s level of education isn’t it?
000
Sam Elman @quselman.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
My education or lack thereof. Anyway, if you really cannot understand that these rules you’re discussing were voted on and to disregard them and call them stupid after you’vebeen found breaking them doesn’t negate wrongdoing then I’m really not sure what to say.
100
Sam Elman @quselman.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
Yes. Well done. You genius. Those rules that you’re talking about everyone else agreed to abide by them. Your team didn’t. Now you’re upset you’ve been called cheats. I can’t continue to explain this to you. Obviously grammar and punctuation aren’t your strong suit, so it’s ironic you talking about
100
Sam Elman @quselman.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
Hmmm. I didn’t see in your post any mention that these rules were voted on. It doesn’t matter that you think the rules are dumb. They’re the rules. If you don’t like them then vote to change them. But since everyone else is operating inside them then if you don’t that’s cheating. Hope this helps.

Doesn’t appear an anyone who can read is crying. Just the city fans who saw the writing on the wall and went “yeah that’s probably not relevant.”
100
Sam Elman @quselman.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
You seem to have missed the part where all the members of the pl voted for these rules and then that city violated them **after** they were in place. Hence, it’s cheating

Well he can hardly make Arsenal better by playing as 9 for Spain can he, Adam? you don’t understand. I randomly picked a game in the world of football and he was playing number 9 and we played well. Don’t you see. By Newton’s law of Bayesian statistics this means him being 9 must always improve us.

Sam Elman @quselman.bsky.social · 16/09/2026
but he did play as 9 against bayern and we was perty good that game, and I just chose that game at random
