I recommend the Pilot Kakuno-- it's <$20, comes with a cartridge (but can also be paired with a converter for any special inks), and has a special grip to teach you how to properly hold it. Also the nib has a little face.

This thing has mixed reviews but if you use 15 mm tapes it’s perfect. It holds 4 little mini tape samples, as well as the winding tool and an additional core.

I call Brook my “Half Moon Cookie Cat” cuz he looks like a half moon cookie, but also because he has so much of my old cat Moon’s personality in him. We’ve been together since January 2025, and he’s just started hanging out in the spot where Moon used to sleep. He is the sweetest angel baby. 👼
