I would just like to add that it’s not just individuals that are failed: these places fail families & so fail their own communities. They fail to protect women in domestic situations. They tend not to protect poor people they tend not to believe in social programs for youth, etc

I once crafted a syllabus for a course built entirely around rape culture—particularly in the University—but it never happened. We’ve been telling this story a long time.

Really happy to have had this poem from Owen Torrey, in the anthology. One of the young poets I encountered through the submission process that blew me away. They have a book coming out this fall. Order it!

Of all the indignities of the current US Administration I find Hegseth the most egregious & deplorable. Seeing a man like that in a position of any kind of power is like finding out the dude who molested you is now the person in charge of the Sexual Assault Resource Center...

“Take the number of official targets and multiply it by the number of bystanders it’s permissible to kill in order to reach the targets, and pretty soon, Abraham says in the film, ‘you end up with all of Gaza,’” our columnist M. Gessen writes about “NAZA.”

The heart of end times fascism is an abandonment of this world. Heaven is either celestial or computational, but not earthly. Not here. It’s why so many people are already rising up. Most people actually like it here. Thank you to CNN International’s Amanpour for having us.

Absolutely an issue in the Academy. That and eye-rolling administration who see students as a threat. Still, I wonder what the ultra-conservative G&M editorial board thinks the priority is here? What they really care about. I doubt it's actually students. www.theglobeandmail.com/opinion/edit...
