42. QUEER AS FOLKLORE by Sacha Coward - 4👑 This was an interesting nonfiction book taking a look at the connection between certain creatures and stories and queer identity. Honestly, the title says it all.
The cover of Queer as Folklore by Sacha Coward. It's a yellow cover with red and black lettering. It features a queer person mixed with all kinds of creatures. They have a fish tail, a muscular torso with a big heart medal, fairy wings, a mustache, and a unicorn horn.

41. MY MOTHER'S RIDICULOUS RULES FOR DATING by Philip William Stover - 3👑 A standalone M/M romance that left me with very mixed feelings. I think the character I liked most was the love interest, who unfortunately didn't have his own POV. It got a few chuckles out of me though, so there is that.
The cover of My Mother's Ridiculous Rules for Dating by Philip William Stover. It's a blue cover with the silhouette of the Brooklyn Bridge in the background. It's a graphic cover and depicts a man standing with one of his legs crossed before the other, wearing a yellow shirt, blue pants, white sneakers and rainbow colored socks. He scratches his head with one hand and helds a very long scroll of paper that curves behind his legs.

40. TRIPLE WORLD SCORE by Craig Schaefer - 4👑 The 12th Daniel Faust book, and the first I read right as it came out! The good thing about these books is that you can always be certain Schaefer will deliver. No disappointment here. 3 heists, 3 worlds, one Enemy. Can't wait for the boss fight.
The cover of Triple World Score by Craig Schaefer. It's dominantly red and yellow, it has broken glass around the frame, and the focus is on the car coming right at us with headlights on, with a hand reaching out for it in the background.

39. ONCE WAS WILLEM by M.R. Carey - 3.5👑 This was my first book from M.R. Carey and I liked it, mostly. It had interesting themes and ideas, but I wasn't always fan of the pacing and it lost my attention sometimes. Still, I think I'll give a chance to other books by this author.
The cover of Once Was Willem by M.R. Carey. It's a red and black illustrated cover that hides silhouettes of swords, monsters, skulls, snakes and at least one human being among plants and flowers. The title is in the focus with its golden color and old-fashioned font.

Do you think I have enough beads? 🤔😅 I *finally* finished reorganising my stash. I honestly thought I'd have a few spare empty containers for future shopping, but... Oops. And I tried to save space by stashing more stuff into them than necessarily practical, lol. Also, guess my favourite color! 🤣
A picture of my stash of beads and other bits for jewelry making. It has 4 boxes, all of which have 30 small containers filled with all kinds of colored beads.

38. THE LIBRARY OF THE DEAD by T.L. Huchu - DNF I'm sad about this one, because it's been sitting on my shelf for a few years now, and I really wanted to love it, but I just did not engage with it. I tried, but eventually had to accept defeat. Plus, the library is barely present, so boo.
The cover of The Library of the Dead by T. L. Huchu. It has the Edingburgh landscape on the bottom of the cover, in the middle a lock and the cover itself is showing a map of streets.

37. THE NIGHT PARADE OF 100 DEMONS by Marie Brannen - 4👑 This trilogy is set in The Legend of Five Rings universe. I read book 3 a few years back and I decided to go from the beginning. It took me a while to get into the audiobook though. Not sure if it was me, the narrator or the timing. Oh well.
The cover of The Night Parade of 100 Demons by Marie Brennan. It has the Legend of Five Rings logo in one corner. The cover itself has the silhouette of a demon, I assume. Within it we see the village in which the book is set, featuring two figures (our MCs) facing toward a huge mountain.

36. HEATED RIVALRY by Rachel Reid - 3👑 Look, I liked the series enough to read the book, which in turn ended up being disappointing. So much so that it forced me to vent out my feelings in a review. A rare occurrence these days. Review: queensbookasylum.com/2026/08/27/h...
The cover of Heated Rivalry by Rachel Reid. It depicts two hockey players facing each other on the ice in full gear. One is wearing red-white-blue colors, the other has black and yellow.

35. THE HOUSE SAPHIR by Marissa Meyer - 3👑 Can't say I've been a big fan of this fantasy retelling of Bluebeard's legend, to be honest. Started well enough, I was hooked, but then it fizzled out. Couldn't stand the characters much, also got bored by the halfway point or so.
The cover of The House Saphir by Marissa Meyer. It depicts a bloody set of stairs, surrounded by vines that have things entwined in them, all in pairs placed on either side - keys, rings, goblets, bones, birds, daggers and arrows. It's all very blue and symmetric.

The cover of An Unexpected Christmas by Kara Jorgensen. It's a simple black cover with purple lettering and it has a Christmas bauble on the front with a snowflake design.

33. THE TERROR IN THE EMERALD CITY by D.D. Black - 3.5👑 The 5th Thomas Austin thriller is probably my least favorite so far. It's centered around a terrorist attack in the Seahawks Stadium during a game night. We had some old & new characters, and I mean, it wasn't bad, just not up my alley.
The cover of The Terror in the Emerald City by D.D. Black. It shows a foggy night street lined with cars and a blurry shape of a man walking on cobblestones.

The cover of Between Dragons and Their Wrath by Devin Medson. It's a red and black cover mostly, the image is dominated by a dragon with its wings open, its body wrapped around a big yellow orb, surrounded by some vines.

31. ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS by Alice Feeney - 2.5👑 My first Alice Feeney book, and we are not off to a great start, I'm sad to say. I listened through the audiobook as it had parts I liked, especially in the beginning, but boy did I hate all of the characters. Wasn't all that into the writing either.
The cover of Rock, Paper Scissors by Alice Feeney. It's a black cover with a red (tagline, author name), white and rosegold (the title) text. In the middle there are two papercut figures - a woman and a man holding hands, the paper a bit torn and creased.

30. THE HOUSE WITCH by Delemhach - 4👑 I had this audiobook on my TBR for a while now, and I did enjoy it, even though it still didn't completely sell me on serials. But, it's cozy, it's fun, the narrator was great, so I'll pick up book 2 eventually.
The cover of The House Witch by Delemhach. This cover is fully illustrated and shows a hearth with fire and a bowl over it, as well as two tea cups and a kettle pouring tea. There is also a black cat sitting next to the fire and around the hearth there are pots, pans, a broom, a chunk of meat, vegetables and herbs. It has a very witchy vibe.

The cover of The Last Sun by K.D. Edwards. It features two guys standing before a big stained glass-like window picturing the sun. The guy on the background holds a gun, the one in the foreground has lights in his eyes. They are surrounded by what looks like a blood in an artistic way.

25. MORTEDANT'S PERIL by RJ Barker - 4.5👑 I listened to the audiobook of RJ's newest release, the first book in The Trials of Irody Hasp series, and I quite enjoyed it. It's a mix of fantasy and mystery with RJ's signature weird worldbuilding I love about his work.
The cover of Mortedant's Peril by RJ Barker. It pictures two circular towers on both sides where the levels get narrower towards the top. IN the middle there is a big torch-like thing with fire erupting and a flock of birds circling around it.

23. FORENSIC HISTORY: CRIMES, FRAUDS, AND SCANDALS by Elizabeth A. Murray - 5👑 This is an audiobook from The Great Courses. I actually reread this, because I just needed a break from all the mystery and thrillers. By learning about real life crime stuff. Totally makes sense. Anyway. Recommended!
The cover of Forensic History: Crimes, Frauds, and Scandals by Elizabeth A. Murray. It's blue and has a bunch of pictures on the cover showing different types of evidence - like a bullet, finger prints, a dummy lying at the bottom of the stairs and a picture modeling a shooting by showing the way of the bullet and lazery figures.

22. THE LIBRARY AFTER DARK BY Ande Pliego - 2.5👑 I'm annoyed, because this had the potential to be great. Gothic vibes, closed circle murder mystery, a creepy library. What else do you want? Relatable characters and a less overbearing plot, apparently. Review: queensbookasylum.com/2026/05/14/t...
The cover of The Library After Dark by Ande Pliego. It's blue, showing library rooms divided by archs. There is a secret door opening, with a book lying in front of it in a pool of blood. There is a knife and a torchlight lying next to it.

The cover of The Man Made of Smoke by Alex North. It's white, covered with red smoke that kinda makes it look like blood. There is a keyhole in which a child is framed.
