So I was let go from my job. If anyone wants to pay me for writing or feet pics I'll be listening to jazz in the digital unemployment line 🤣🤙 (seriously I'm in Texas, y'all couldn't just play country? I'd rather be annoyed than asleep)

a great dissection of why a lot of fandom drama doesn't only boil down to "these people are thinking too much about [insert series here] and need to touch grass." there's another layer to the way folks get obsessed (for parasocial/self-important rewriting/clout reasons, etc) that gets glossed over

by asneakyfox on tumblr:

one big thing i think people outside fandom (like, all fandoms, fandom in general, not any particular one) tend to misunderstand is they know it's a subculture of people who are weirdly deeply invested in fictional media, and they hear about drama caused by people in those subcultures being unhinged in not-fun ways, and they think the unhingedness comes from the fact of being overinvested in works of fiction.

which is a natural assumption, but in my experience that's not really the case? like in my experience the drama llamas in fandom are usually not the ones who are just genuinely very deeply into the fiction. i've known people who are basically thinking about star trek or x-men comics or supernatural pretty much 100% of their free time and ime that type of person is usually very nice and surprisingly functional in their regular life. when someone's a constant nexus of fandom drama it's usually not that they are obsessed with the actual work of fiction the fandom is about, it's at least one of the following:

what they're obsessed with is not the source material but their unhealthy parasocial relationships with one or more of the people who created it

what they're obsessed with is not the source material but some elaborate shared-universe subset of fanfic about it that's only barely related to the original at this point, and/or an esoteric reading-against-the-text reinterpretation of the source material (often if the canon is active and ongoing this leads to becoming actively hostile toward it for its inevitably increasing failure to conform to their preferred fanon)

what they're obsessed with is not the source material but the fandom itself and gathering clout within it, so that the source material basically only exists to them as a tool for scoring points in increasingly arcane fandom disputes

and very often you get the same person doing 2 and sometimes even all 3 of these, and that's where the trouble really starts.

It blows my mind that I have to watch history channel VHS tapes to get a decent idea of what happened to sex education in this fucking country. #MargaretSanger is a hero and it's a shame I'm learning about her when I'm 28.

Just a reminder that it wasn't normalized to shave until a razor company for men decided to start targeting women since Puritan culture had us covered. Fabric was rationed and stockings were on the way out as Flappers became the new modern women.

My litmus test for men I like is whether or not they hold the door open and if they walk through doors I hold open. If I hold a door open for a man and they tell me to go first, and I say "no, I insist" And we end up in a staring contest Know that you're putting your "manners" over my refusal

Men who open the door and refuse to go in until the woman does are my main op What is being assumed if you enter before? When I hold the door open for you and you try to wave me in - why are we in a staring contest? What is on the other side of that door that makes you think I need YOU at my back

Dog has a condition that makes it hard to get food down so he eats in a special high chair. In dogs with megaesophagus, the muscles in the esophagus cannot properly coordinate the swallowing movement. As a result, food, and liquid accumulate in the esophagus.

Finally I can share this piece I made for @galemancerzine.bsky.social for charity zine last year. I personally did a Gale origin run romancingg Lae'zel and to be honest it might have been my favourite romance. Both lied and used by their gods, united in the astral plane to take their revenge :)

Gale and Lae'zel stand in the astral plane looking at Mystra's constellation( path) and united with red dragons dragons(flying on the background) they prepare to take revenge from gods that used them. Gale is looking at Lae'zel lovingly, holding her chin up and Lae'zel is both holding her silver sword in one hand, ready for battle, and her mage in her other hand.

Close up of Gale and Laezel looking at eachother. the astral plane is on the background while red dragons fly away
