Exactly. Now is the time for ethical, universal values to return, and overcome the divisiveness of identity politics, whether it is waving the British flag at refugees, or waving the flag of this ethnic minority or that.

A strong statement from the Foreign Secretary opposing the E1 settlement project. This is yet another expansion of illegal Israeli Settlements in the West Bank. They are a breach of international law.
A blue picture with white text of the statement that you can read below https://www.gov.uk/government/news/foreign-secretary-statement-on-government-of-israel-launch-of-a-tender-for-the-e1-settlement-project

HERE’S WHAT REALLY HAPPENED The Met Police are desperate to save face following their unjustified attack on peaceful protesters yesterday. 152 people were arrested outside Westminster Magistrates Court, most of whom had a court listing in their name for a “terrorism” charge.

Rising food prices are one of the clearest examples of the cost of living crisis, and it's something that shoppers have to contend with every week. In @thefabians.bsky.social new pamphlet, I set out what a new Labour government can do to to bring inflation down.

Sarah O'Connor's new book 'We Are Not Machines: The Fight for the Future of Work' is an excellent read that reframes the conversations we have about technological change away from binary lists of winners and losers, and towards a discussion of power, politics and humanity. (3/3)

I hate the crowbaring of military service into debate (as if having served automatically guarantees a higher degree of integrity from the politician in question). We're not the the overly martial United States or indeed the Roman Republic. Make an argument. Don't appeal to machismo &/or flag-waving.

I worry about anyone who isn't 'squeamish' about cutting support for people with complex physical or mental health needs, so it's potentially easier kill or mutilate someone's brother or son. I want a PM to wrestle with the morality of what he's saying. Words fall too easily from Andy's lips.

Quaker Rupert Read points to a report which praises the ethical values of Zack Polanski and the Greens ("love as a political emotion, compassionate listening to adversaries") but asks that those values underpin all Green policies not just some.

As an economist, former FT journalist and now Labour MP, l don’t think the bond markets have to fear a change of Labour leadership. The biggest problem for gilt investors and MPs alike is inflation – & it remains our common enemy. My @financialtimes.com op-ed 👇 (1/5) www.ft.com/content/2a64...

Ol Rappaport in a review on our website has given the highest praise to Rachel Shabi's book 'Off White: The Truth About Antisemitism'. Ol, a Quaker and a member of Reform Judaism, says that, if there is one book that everyone should read on antisemitism, it is this one. Go to quakersocialists.org.uk
