A cursed quail. I think too much about databases.

That's my take, anyway. And yes this means someone editing the weights who hasn't really thought through it is fine.

Been thinking about this one. It's wrong, because it's a reflection of the human being doing it. Same reason why we feel uncomfortable seeing others verbally abuse the chatbot

Oh shittttt I am excited to compare to fastmails webmail. Maybe I should extend it with masked email integration.... assuming that's a thing you can automate

Welllllll thankfully for me I am interested in that too 🤡

Bad advice: stop worrying about having multiple glibcs? Real advice: show meeeee. Flakes take a bit to wrap your head around.

Anyways I also know that @fubarchitect.com is explicitly working on this in a marketable way :)

quail @quail.wtf · 14/09/2026
But like - agents working in a project can create an index.cgi and I can open it in the browser - otel, clickhouse are pretty widely distributed in the system - yes it uses nix but less heavily than you think

Am currently working on this. Maybe I already have it? It's so tied up in my personal configs though and I'm not really keen on trying to extract and market it.

the problem with learning mandarin via anki is that it's really hard to know if I'm getting The Tones right :pensive_clown:

the dopamine rush of anki hitting you with a card from a few days ago and getting it right >>>>

We’re installing new fare card readers at several METRO stations and on buses. Though they look different, they work the same: Simply tap your Go-To Card to pay. We’re testing new readers that will allow you to pay with a credit card or mobile wallet in 2027.

"agents let you ask for the homercar" is SUCH a good framing (credit @fubarchitect.com ) and I love writing my SPEC dot md and thinking "yay I'm so excited to drive my homercar"

Oh but also: make sure you have a decent iron and ironing board as well. Ironing is ~half of sewing

They are remarkably cheap. The singer heavy-duty is a good entry level model (even though it's made like a standard machine from 20 years ago...)

quail @quail.wtf · 08/09/2026
really I'll take amp but I want to use my own model providers with it (I strongly want to use a provider that runs on renewables)
010
quail @quail.wtf · 08/09/2026
want: - decent web ui (opencode is the best I've seen) - amps threading model - CC's memory model (some ppl are haters of this but I like it) - NIH

might fuck around and build my own agent harness. why not.

if you want baby steps: home-manager can be used outside of nixos (as can much of nix tbh...)
110
quail @quail.wtf · 08/09/2026
alas, x86 only in this household. Also I'm doing the nix setup so... I can just ask for one if I need it >:)

quail @quail.wtf · 08/09/2026
dw it'll go through a "how does this feel in a VM" test first.

currently setting this up btw

Funny story: nearly bricked my laptop by disabling the Linux firmware bundle on accident. I thought it was due to a refactor I had the bot do, but... nope! A commit I entirely did by hand was the blame.
010
quail @quail.wtf · 06/09/2026
I've changed my setup a few times now and like... it's fine. You can just roll it back. And now the robots are super good at writing nix so
110
quail @quail.wtf · 06/09/2026
Ignorance is bliss. The trick to nix is realizing that if a setup works one day, it'll continue to work in the future. And home-manager really is just "nixos but for your user environment" and therefore works fine enough ime.
110
quail @quail.wtf · 06/09/2026
home-manager, and yes it's v good. some ppl overdo it imo, but yes it'd be a wonderful fit for strapd imo

Anyways it feels like the days of publicly-writable websites are coming to an end 😔

quail @quail.wtf · 05/09/2026
One thing I can't quite figure out: how the heck do the agents collectively discover these? With artifactory it was somewhat obvious, but how is a whole swarm going to converge on "yeah let's check out this Google classroom site from 2004"
120
quail @quail.wtf · 03/09/2026
Deadass I would use this. At least insofar as I could integrate it into my existing nixos config 🙂‍↕️
110
quail @quail.wtf · 02/09/2026
If I had to bet, either: - This is misreporting from the information (perhaps astra doesn't return summarized CoT, and the reporter misunderstood?) - They believe they can detect misalignment by inspecting activations instead
010
quail @quail.wtf · 01/09/2026
yeah "unbound by default" is a reasonable compromise imo? but I'm very much a newbie to all this thank you for the pointer at keymap!! I've never seen this before, it seems like it'd be useful
010
quail @quail.wtf · 01/09/2026
Like I'm not asking for the ability to customize to be taken away, I'm just shocked that out of the box on most modpacks, `b` is bound to Backpack & [something else that wins].
110
quail @quail.wtf · 01/09/2026
I suppose that makes sense, but then... could we create profiles for different typical keyboard layouts?
110
quail @quail.wtf · 01/09/2026
wait this is just (old) dwarf fortress
020
quail @quail.wtf · 01/09/2026
The solution is clear: I must invent modal keybinds for minecraft.
110
quail @quail.wtf · 01/09/2026
wtb: a minecraft modpack that clears up conflicting keybinds ahead of time, instead of making me figure it out Is there some kind of "you're doing it wrong" that I'm missing here

My even hotter take is that a LOT of what you'd use plugins for can be done through LSP now, which helix supports very very well.

If you're looking for me, check for the freshly jorted jeans (Ok dead ass if ANYONE sees this and wants to meet up, DM me).

quail @quail.wtf · 28/08/2026
Plugin is still vaporware through a fork. Config works fine. Tbh my hot take is that in a world where you're editing through tokens, you need an editor that "just works" and is easy to navigate. Which means the actual editor bit stops becoming much of a thing, ironically

Low key you should switch to helix anyway 😈

@metrotransitmn.bsky.social it rules that the northbound A line stops at the entrance to the state fair - what blocks the southbound from stopping there too?

The corn ribs at the blue barn go so hard too. Full agree with the rest of this too. Pro tip: the more friends you go with, the more things you can split :)

There really is something fun about "tangible skill development". I can do sewing things pretty easily today that I just could not even attempt a year ago. I wonder what the ceiling here is? How high can someone climb on the ladder?
