Wandered over to Bowness Soapworks to see what was happening. Very cool little studio and some great artists hanging out in the heart of Bowness. Came back with this ghostly vase from Aja Dawn Ceramics. 💕

A black and white vase with reaching ghosts on it filled with bright pink flowers

A fun adventure that utilizes projections and an intricate set to take audiences on this wild ride, you still have a couple of days to catch The Da Vinci Code at Vertigo Theatre. Check out my mini review below.

Closing night of the record-setting 2025 Calgary Underground Film Festival saw an Eli Craig double-header, and it was the perfect pairing featuring the sold-out Canadian premiere of Clown in a Cornfield. Check out my mini review over on Substack. open.substack.com/pub/quadroim...

Love them or hate them, clowns have long foubd a home in modern horror. So my favourite localish band has landed in Japan for an amazing tour! Bad Buddy celebrated with a pre-trip show in Olds and ran through their set plus played a second one just for funsies. Good luck, dudes! Have a fantastic time.

Three femmes up front and a masc drummer, Bad Buddy hits the stage at Tracks Pub in Olds, Alberta. The small town, dive bar vibe is apparent.

You dine, maybe you die — that’s the tagline for Vertigo Theatre’s current offering, A Killing at La Cucina. But this lackluster affair is a lot like avantguard fare. It leaves you questioning if you ate at all. It's mini review time over on my Substack!

This week The Monkey hits the big screen. Thanks to the Calgary Underground Film Festival, I got a chance to see it a few days early, and I gotta tell you, it's one of the best films I've seen in a while. Funny, dark, gory, it's definitely worth a watch. So many laughs. So many cringes.

Today's shitty little mental health walk was longer than normal as I was trying to take advantage of the warmth. It also meant it was blustry.

Golden grass blows in the wind next to a sidewalk.

Dried thistles stick out of the snow with evergreen trees in the background.

The original message said, "As part of this collaboration, we will only request that you display our award badge (see attached) and link back to the article on your website." So I think it's a link back scheme, but at what end is unknown. Just seems off.

Its Whois info is also mysteriously blocked, and all its contributors are apparently Irish based on their names... Is it an AI generated dictionary and link back scheme?

Question. Has anyone had any dealings with blueskycalgary.com? They reached out looking for link backs, but when I dug, their about page seems super suspect. I asked for links for their "featured on" section, and they couldn't provide them. 🤔 @cmcalgary.bsky.social @tourismcalgary.bsky.social

Today's shitty mental health walk brought pigeons exploring if a new build is in their budget, painted rocks scattered throughout the park, some old cars, and lots, and lots of ice.

Yesterday, I touched trees that are hundreds of years old and have seen the greatest of minds walk by. The day before that, I drank and ate in a place built in 947, followed by saying hello to yews that inspired Tolkien and graves of those long forgotten. I am trying to find hope and be grounded.

Trevor Rueger melts into his role as Hercule Poirot but Javelin Laurence shines as Hastings — definitely an actor to keep watch for! Heidi Damayo, Todd Houseman, Meg Farhall, and Graham Percy play everyone else. And with Jenna Rodgers directing, it makes for a fun night out.

A Canadian premiere, the production doesn't take itself seriously and the actors have a lot of fun with their multiple hats. There are some fabulously silly moments where the script calls for more characters than actors and the talented cast adapt to continue to tell the story.
