Two prompts used for todays 'october drawing every day' challenge. "Quicksand" and "rescue". No color today either, but I really want to color this one. If I get the time I'll do that 😅😅😅

Tau pilot rescued from a pool of quicksand by a squat warrior.

Good question. On an unrelated note, the reason babies and toddlers get cranky and an energy boost when they are up too late is because the body starts pumping out adrenaline when they are too tired 🤔 I don't know if adults work the same way 😅

Anton @qraxbird.bsky.social · 10/10/2026

That's how I feel, but its 11pm and I'm going up early in the morning so it's sadly not drawing time 🥲😴

It's like that pathfinder module 😄

Someone just reblogged this on tumblr with this tag and I just fucking died I've been on this shit for over a decade and it's only getting worse

kayinnasaki

written about this before but whatever.

Videogames as an artform have a problem with nostalgia. Not that people shouldn’t have nostalgia. Or that games shouldn’t draw from the past. But instead the weight we give to nostalgia.

When people go back to enjoy old games, we assume it’s a nostalgia thing. Do people assume that with books? Or movies? Or music? People certainly do go back in time with those mediums for nostalgia! It happens! I know when my sister is listening to certain cheesy old boyband pop or punk she’s often having a musical nostalgia trip! That’s cool! But we still don’t ASSUME, CONSTANTLY thats why people go back to stuff.

People like old stuff because it’s cool and interesting. It’s historic. People go watch Metropolis still, but how many people alive could even be nostalgic for a movie like that?

I almost want to see the word Nostalgia excised from discussions about video games – not because nostalgia is bad but because we over use it to the point where it’s actually harmful I think.

I mean I made IWBTG and am making an NES style game right now and even for me, the obsession with ‘nostalgia’ seems crazy.

Old stuff is cool. I know this because I see a lot of you kids on my tumblr feed talking about games I know you didn’t grow up with. It’s like finding your parents record or CD collection. Thinking the primary greatness of old games is bringing back memories of eating cereal and playing games on a saturday morning is a great injustice, even if those memories for some are perfectly worthwhile things.

#this post is 11 years old and still holds true

There are no right or wrong ways, but yours is probably the most right way to think about these challenges ;) I'm seeing this (and the other october drawing challenges) as a way to actually get started painting for a one shot I'm putting together :D

010

Anton @qraxbird.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

Also, there are thousands of pieces of historic art that are not copyrighted or trade marked that you can just... use. Allegedly 👀

Nice cacti! 😃 I didn't have time for painting at all yesterday so I'll have to do double drawing today 😅😁

Haha that's great, your toff and toadies (general/heroes) sure will make themselves and you look folish 😅😂 I'd say the designing and kitbashing your army and the random events that makes the playingfield a bit more equal between beginners and veterans are among my favorite parts of the game 😁

Have you watched any games? I'd either start with that ( youtu.be/PGLqE2Mh6H0?... ) or diving into the rules ( drive.google.com/drive/folder... ) It's real fun, as long as you aren't too competitive (there are a lot of random unit deaths 😅)

This is true 😬 Most of their kits have a mix of half arms and armless torsos. If that isn't a problem, the kits are great. But if you need the arm-free torsos, they might be a pass 🫤😉
