Mama died fourteen years ago today. All shades of green were her favorites. She was my best friend, my best teacher, and probably the best human I will ever know. She believed in me when I didn't believe in myself. The eleven years I cared for her were the hardest and most fulfilling of my life.

Hydrating as fast as I can to help my kidneys recover from the bilateral PCN exchange yesterday. Woke up 2:15 AM in pain. Pain meds finally kicking in at nearly 4 AM. They had to dig a new channel in my left kidney because the tube was halfway out which explains the pain I had before the exchange.

Catching up on BBC Proms today because my heart needs healing. I'm so grateful I had a dad who loved all kinds of music and who didn't mind if I hung out in his study while he worked and listened to Classical and Jazz and '50s/'60s Folk. Little did I know back then that he had conducted in college.

So glad I got bagels when I got water. They will sustain me today. Thanks to Angels I was able to get a real meal yesterday. If I can find my bowl, I'll have soup today. I prefer having one hot meal a day if I can. It's nurturing. Meals are rarely hot in LTC facilities.

I awoke early as usual to deal with my PCN pouches and even though I hydrated well before I went to sleep and throughout the night, my output was much lower than I expected. This is not good. I flushed my left tube twice and the second time there was pain from a blockage. It seems to have helped

The supper I was just offered was ham and cheese wrap (Yay! A cured meat!) and orange juice. I've had OJ once in the last year and not only did it screw with my potassium levels, it made me very sick to my stomach. It's not that hard, y'all. It really is not. Lunch was beans, breakfast eggs. Gah.

Used the last of my Doordash credits to get water and groceries and to pre-order supper. I'm glad I got supplies in b/c tomorrow's menus are not good for me. Pasta with red sauce, ham, or fish. Something else I blocked out. It's so frustrating. I ate an egg yesterday and regretted it immediately.

Using up the last of my Doordash credits to get bagels, good chocolate even though I still have some from my last shop, Neufchâtel cheese, more protein snacks, and 12 liters of water. I'm so grateful for my cold bag because as long as I have a pitcher of ice in there, things stay fresh.

I also highly recommend the documentary about Ed Sullivan -- Sunday Best: The Untold Story of Ed Sullivan. His show ended in 1971 when I was a little girl, so I missed all the iconic musical guests as Mama set me an early bedtime. If you love mid-century popular music, it's a must watch.

I just finished watching Mariska Hargitay's documentary, My Mom Jayne. What a journey Mariska had while making this film and in the years before. I have always admired both women's work, but now? I am blown away. I highly recommend it. The very end had me glad I had tissues nearby.

Del's Lemonade was brought to this facility as a treat for residents and if my favorite day shift aide hadn't come in and asked if I wanted one, I would have missed out. They apparently omitted the entire dementia unit and people who don't leave their rooms like me. WTF.
