I won't be voting for any local candidate in Somerset ward as long as this illegal parking lot (with this bizarrely placed sign) isn't dealt with. Many of us have been calling it out to bylaw and our councillor for months 🤷

This is one of the worst! I'm sure there's a buried infrastructure issue or power lines or something but planting trees in these spaces should be mandatory when redeveloped This looks and feels actively hostile to people. Same with the Jade building on Somerset

The unit went from being some kind of tailor shop to a hairdressers. The pole and the hanging (broken?) tailor sign that's later missing seems to be in the same style. I wonder if that business created some of the ornamentation around that space. Although it likely predates that enhancement

Unless I'm mistaken 90% of their business seems to be selling to US brands and they've lost 35% of their export sales (because of Canada not buying) Exports makeup at most 10% of their revenue so Canadians have only cost them a 3.5% loss overall?

I wish we could do what you see so often in the Plateau area of Montreal. A few vacant lots each block bought up and turned into small parks. There are lots of Centretown parking lots that would make great parks

I heard the timeline is fall. Likely makes sense to ensure the pants and grass get a good head start I'm very excited to visit the space. The views from the walkway down to the river are fantastic too. This spring there was a brief period a part of it was open to the public (likely by mistake)

This is completely unsafe and unacceptable. The only sidewalk on Prince of Wales has been ripped up, the southbound bike lane is full of stupid parked cars and the northbound lane has a pile of gravel and a truck parked in it. @riverwardriley.bsky.social why is there no safe alternative for people

I'm still deeply fascinated by the things you can find on GeoOttawa I was happy to see all the trees in the parking lot planted 1965-1991 but then shocked to see that 2008-2019 they were all torn out for more parking 🙃 During a climate emergency. And it's mostly always seem empty 🤷

I almost don't want to share this but there's a fantastically luxuriant spot of grass down by the Ottawa River in front of the Cliff St energy plant I think it's mostly because it's newish and isn't used much as the through route is blocked by construction. It's heavenly with a book and a blanket

At first I was sceptical but the new heating plant on Parliament Hill is fantastic. Beautiful design and it'll have fantastic greenspace and lookouts. I secretly hope it'll remain a Centertown secret for awhile once it opens 🤣 The feds have been doing a lot of really great city building lately

I have an extra set of standard handles/clips for Arkel panniers if anyone would like them. Seems silly to have them lying around when I could give them away to a new home My current rear rack is a larger than standard tube size so I needed to order a larger replacement set a few years back
