This weekend I resumed cleaning out my in-laws bedroom after a yr+ break. (We shared a home together.) Hanging on the closet doorknob was a plastic grocery bag with a pair of shoes in it. My MIL had put her shoes in the bag so she wouldn't track sand in the house.

Current status of my #ResistanceGarden! There are a couple of plants out of view, but this is most of it. 🥰 It's janky, but I'm proud of it! My husband cut down some small bushes that were in the space, but that was it. Everything else is all me. 💪

We see a backyard with 24 planters in wide variety of shape, size, and color! There are colorful grow bags, a couple recycling bins, and a few traditional planters that you might find on a porch. Off to the left we see two wooden planters, each with an attached trellis on the back.

The majority of planters are arranged on top of layered cardboard. Everything has something planted and growing in it. We can see several tomato plants that are already 2-3 feet high, and a few marigolds popping their heads up.

There's a concrete block retaining wall behind the planters, and above that we see some dark purple bushes and more greenery beyond.

Soooooooo my schedule has me working at night. I've been *wanting* to get up early and work on the #resistancegarden, but either I overslept or it was freaking hot. (Or both.) This weekend I decided, "Fuck it. I'll just shovel in the dark." Technically I had a head lamp, but you get the idea.

I'm a dumbo. I've been panicking about getting starts because just about all of my seedlings died. (Don't ask.) Last night it finally occurred to me..... I CAN JUST PLANT SEEDS IN THE GROUND. 🤦‍♀️ I finished filling most of the planters last night and planted some seeds today. #resistancegarden

Smalley (my MIL's) roses. She planted it a couple of years before she passed and I'm glad she was able to see it bloom a few times. She'd be giddy if she saw it now. 🥰

It's a bright sunny day, and there's a large unkempt rose bush taking up the screen. There are hundreds of bright red roses in full bloom all over the bush. It's wild and uneven, but 100% flourishing.

No one, regardless of their actions, should be sold as slaves. The moment you agree that human rights -- FOR ANYONE -- are conditional, you've already lost.

If you really care about preventing government tyranny, your #1 priority must be making sure criminals have rights.
And that's not a joke or an exaggeration.
If criminals don't have rights, then all the government has to do is find some excuse to label people as criminals, and those people will no longer have rights. It's what literally every tyrannical government in all of history has done.
If you believe that people who break the law should forfeit their rights, you're literally as pro-tyranny as a person can get.

Tonight I found a 6 leaf clover! An hour later I dropped a puzzle piece and it fell PERFECTLY into place. 😳 (I had it turned the wrong way in my hands.) A friend suggested I buy a lotto ticket, so I did. 😂 Wish me luck!

Tonight I planted the top tier, but this represents months of planning and effort. Everything from the planter, the soil, the plants, to the crushed leaves (for mulch) took forethought. Even though it's only 4 strawberry plants and thyme, I wanna remember this. My #ResistanceGarden is starting.

I was SUPER excited to make a sandwich. So excited that I got an endorphin rush from sheer anticipation. 😂 Pulled out the ingredients and opened the bread drawer to find... One slice of bread, and it was the butt end. 🤬 I ended up making a salad, which was fine. But I really wanted a sandwich. 😭

I hate that one of the primary arguments against deporting undocumented immigrants is, "We can pay them less money than documented people!" Call me crazy, but I don't think paying workers LOWER THAN FEDERALLY MANDATED MINIMUMS is (or ever should be) a perk. Everyone deserves a living wage.

Handling fine aid for a low-cost spay/neuter clinic is eye-opening. Sure, there are the folks who didn't fix 2 pets and now they have 15 they need fixed. 🤦‍♀️ But it's mostly people who've lost jobs, been in accidents, found strays, dealing with cancer, etc. All trying to take care of their pets. ❤️
