Tried out a new shading technique in this piece featuring Qaree, the mage scientist and Sky Huntress of my Silveen Chronicles. I think the new technique added a lot of depth to the color.

Sketch and final piece of Kella from The Ninth Door summoning her wings. The sketch has the old spell-sleeve design, which I updated for the final. Kella's spell-sleeve is a special prosthetic she made so she can cast spells. #digitalart #sketch #indieauthor #fantasy

It's Kella and Qaree, two of my POV characters in The Ninth Door! They're both Spell Crafters, mages who specialize in designing new ways to use magic.

Another ghostly picture for the season - this is Evanna and Zare from Bound by Briar, my Beauty and the Beast retelling where the unseen servants are ghosts . . . and one of them gets the girl!

It's October, so I must post pictures of my favorite ghost, Zare, the unassuming phantom cook of my Beauty and the Beast Retelling, Bound by Briar. This ballroom scene was inspired by "Once Upon a December" in the movie Anastasia.

Concept art for mage component belts in The Ninth Door - all spells need material components in this world, so the mages carry them in special belts to be ready at any time.

From The Ninth Door, Monk Daysu un'Tell and his adorable pet, Urtee. She's a co'elldah pup, and will someday grow into a serpentine, feathered dragonlike creature. Right now she's just freaking cute 😍 #booksky #writer #fantasy #writesky 📚📚

this iconic advertising copywriter named Kathy Hepinstall Parks died over the weekend and I wanted to share something from her website I thought Bluesky would like

Why should I write better when a machine can do it for me?
Because actually no one can do it for you, because your voice is unique among all the people on earth. Siri never petted a horse's neck. Alexa has never been ghosted by the captain of the football team. But you have lived, your heart is beating, you have suffered, and you have something important to say. It's a human's job, to use words, and whatever job you give to a machine, that part of your brain goes dark. Maybe it's worth it when it comes to remembering phone numbers and directions, but when that part of your brain that uses words goes dark, that's a vast area that's very close to your soul. Don't let some internet platform convince you that what you have to say and create isn't worthwhile. Words are the echo of your soul. Honing that echo matters.

Another illustration for my new book coming in September! It's a pleasant day shopping with Neqarra, Kella, and Qaree (you know, before I toss them into mortal peril and all those good epic fantasy things). 😜

Three young women carrying shopping bags and talking happily together. Fantasy setting, warm sunny day in the market.

Just finished coloring this fun picture of Kella, the main character of the epic fantasy I'll be releasing this fall. She's a champion of dance competitions when she's not holed up in a workshop inventing new magical gear.

young woman with brown skin and long black hair dancing. She wears an orange tabard with a blue sash around her waist. The background is abstract squares.
