I've just posted a screenshot of the price for a set lunch menu at a restaurant that's about 1/2 mile from the "local" (30km from me) McD. McD (I looked it up) charges €15.50 for a "Maxi Best of" (Burger, fries, drink) Restaurant? Starter, main course, dessert, wine & coffee: €14.90 No McD for me.

I haven't had McD in oh.... don't even remember. Years. First off: It's too expensive for what you get. Second: I'm boycotting US corps. Third: I'm in France. I can get a 3 course restaurant lunch with wine and coffee for less than I pay at McD, and support the local economy. Win/Win

That's what I did wrong this morning at my blood draw! I should have brought an offended cat. Instead I had a nurse poking holes in me with a needle, unable to find any blood no less than 4x. I did say if she sticks a knife somewhere, there will be enough blood to satisfy any vampire. She said no.

I got the bloodletting done, but it's never easy with me. When there are needles involved, my veins - which are hard to find at the best of times - go "Nuh uh" and roll the second there is a stab. 4 (!) attempts later, I now have a blown vein with a big bruise on the back of my hand. I'll live. Ow.

So. I got up at 6am, made it to the Pole Sante for 7am, got into the nurse's office at 7:15am... only to be told that I have to come back for 11am, because the Dr. specified some test for that time. No food etc. So, starving me gets to the nurse at 10:45am - and she can't find any blood lol

Strawberries are not exactly in season in October. Maybe freeze some when they are (and cheaper)? Sorry, but I grew up when you couldn't get Strawberries in October. Depending where you are, your season might be around June/July. Nothing wrong with strawberry shortcake made with frozen strawberries.

This was many years ago, she's sadly long gone. But she went from a completely mistreated and dangerous 3yo to the sweetest horse you could ever meet. I was actually not surprised. I put my BF on her - his first ride - and sent him off down the trail (on his own) while I mucked out. 1/2

I'm trying to rehome a senior (12) cat at the moment. Not because I don't love her. Not because she has health issues. Not because I can't afford her. One of my other cats (14) is harassing the hell out of her. I've struggled for 3 years, and it's only getting worse. She deserves better.

Animals as a whole. I got a call from the lady who was loaning my horse. "Do you know what an AWESOME babysitter your horse is?" Turns out her 3yo had untied her, got on the back, and my horse took her around the block - refusing to go on the fast road running past the farm. Then brought her back.

The hugs. I miss the hugs. Coming from a family that really doesn't hug (or show affection) that's a huge one. But it's actually the sharing I miss most. Funny stuff you've seen, funny stuff that happened, something funny someone said. Places. Foods. etc. Yep. Sharing and hugs. Miss that.

Oh I'm getting absolutely slated for trying to rehome a 12 year old Sphynx. (My other two are even older) But what can I do? It's never been "good" between those two, but we coped. Now it's getting beyond tolerable for her - and me. But I'm the bad guy for trying to get a better situation for her.

We do that in France. Starbucks is only used by tourists usually, because...there's always a cafè nearby that serves better - and cheaper - coffee, and usually has fresh croissants as well. Then you have a lot of "Point Relais" restos, where for €15 you get a 3 course meal including wine and coffee.
