What’s your favorite comic strip, and why is it THE FAR SIDE?
The Far Side comic of a boy and his father in front of a fallen tree, with a large saw on the ground behind them. The father is pointing to the rings of the cut tree, and says to the son, “And see this ring right here, Jimmy? ... That's another time when the old fellow miraculously survived some big forest fire.”

Normally when leaving for work I put on a nature show for our Chihuahuas, but today they will be watching AMADEUS (1984).

Another example of how Uber has always been a shit company: mocking DoorDash’s apology statement in a sponsored ad, as if they aren’t complicit.

Unofficial statement
There has been a high volume of orders placed across the Uber Eats app.
After careful investigation, we can confirm that our fast delivery, irresistible deals, and wide selection of restaurants may be responsible.
We understand the inconvenience of having too many great options at your fingertips, and we sincerely apologize.
The good news: we have no plans to fix this.

It was a truly profound experience today at the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art. Believe me when I say that you are not prepared.
Selfie from the ground in the center of the Lucas Museum of narrative art. It is honestly hard to describe. View from the windows in the center of the Lucas Museum of narrative art.Me in front of the glass elevators of the Lucas Museum of narrative art. “The Problem We All Live With” is a 1964 painting by Norman Rockwell that is considered an iconic image of the civil rights movement in the United States. It depicts Ruby Bridges, a six-year-old African-American girl, on her way to William Frantz Elementary School, an all-white public school, on November 14, 1960, during the New Orleans school desegregation crisis. Because of threats of violence against her, she is escorted by four deputy U.S. marshals; the painting is framed so that the marshals' heads are cropped at the shoulders, making Bridges the only person fully visible. On the wall behind her are written the N-word and the letters "KKK"; a smashed and splattered tomato thrown against the wall is also visible. The white protesters are not visible, as the viewer is looking at the scene from their point of view. The painting is oil on canvas and measures 36 inches (91 cm) high by 58 inches (150 cm) wide

The Moclans have more in common with Klingons in terms of personality — it’s an all-male race that talk like Worf. Females are surgically reassigned to male at birth. The show is something of a passion project from 90s Trek veterans Brannon Braga, André Bormanis, Jonathan Frakes, and others.

And before anyone scolds me for “buying” things on digital, they can’t revoke a downloaded Apple TV purchase any more than they can a physical copy. I can even make a backup.
Purchased Content

When you purchase access to this item, you can permanently download it to your iPhone, iPad, Mac, or PC. Once downloaded, you can access this without an internet connection, and Apple can't remove it from your device. If you purchase this from the Apple TV app on Apple TV, smart TVs, or other streaming devices, you can't download it on those devices, but you can easily download it on compatible devices.

There isn’t much skill to heating a frozen pizza, but I think I’m pretty good at it*. Unfortunately, there is no amount of skill that can save this godawful pizza from Trader Joe’s. 👎 *I pre-crisp the pepperonis separately, & sometimes add a touch of aged white cheddar and gruyère, plus albahaca.

I noticed that CRIMINAL RECORD is not in Apple TV’s top 10, so we need to remedy that. It’s a fantastic British crime drama and I want it to keep going. Peter Capaldi and Cush Jumbo play so well off each other, I love their dynamic. Both seasons have compelling plots. tv.apple.com/us/show/crim...

I was speechless when I saw this. Somebody at Apple actually gave this segment a green light. I already hate genAI slop, but this is so bad they would have to be completely out of touch, or actively trying to undermine the product. I just can’t believe someone signed off on this in earnest. 🚩 🚩 🚩

We just finished MARGO’S GOT MONEY TROUBLES, which is on Apple TV so of course it’s excellent. If you’re shy about bare breasts you should know that the show is absolutely not. The whole cast is fantastic, and of course Nick Offerman steals every scene he is in.
Elle Fanning sits on the floor in front of a couch in a living room. Her legs are crossed and elbows behind her on the seat cushions. She looks tired and there is a baby bottle on the floor next to her, and an open laptop on her other side.

Behind her on the couch, Nick Offerman holds a cute baby that is playing with his beard, and on the other side of the couch Michelle Pfeiffer is turned away, glaring back at him with an iPhone in her hand.

The title is above all of them in large green letters with an Apple TV logo.

WIDOW’S BAY on Apple TV is outstanding! Thank you @whwoolhat.bsky.social for recommending it.
The image is a watercolor painting of the main characters over a creepy island with a lighthouse. Here is a description of the show:

“Widow’s Bay” is a quaint island town 40 miles off the coast of New England. But something lurks beneath the surface. Mayor Tom Loftis (Matthew Rhys) is desperate to revive his struggling community. There’s no Wi-Fi, spotty cellular reception and he must contend with superstitious locals who believe their island is cursed. He wants these people to respect him. They don’t. They think he is soft and cowardly. And he is. But Loftis is determined to build a better future for his teenage son and turn the island into a tourist destination. Miraculously, he succeeds: tourists are finally coming. Unfortunately, the locals were right. After decades of calm, the old stories that seemed too ludicrous to be true, start happening again. “Widow’s Bay” blends genuine horror with character-driven comedy.
