Playing around with an idea: responsive code. The build script creates up to 5 versions of each code sample using Prettier, and a container query displays the right one. Brotli means the filesize overhead is very small. Live demo: jakearchibald.com/2026/css-cus...

ATproto as a sales point will strengthen the existing developer community. ATproto as an implementation detail will expand the user base.

Gorgeous and useful! I would love if the navigation pill buttons were sticky and could be accessed while scrolling down the site.

I wonder if the harness or model providers could use this pattern. Upgrade/downgrade the model for different parts of the task, and have smarter models delegate to simpler ones.

That's awesome! I am not actively working on Leopard anymore, but some of the other contributors might still be willing to help. You could also consider making your own fork! :)

CSS reacts, JS just listens. @nerdy.dev’s prop-for-that library exposes runtime state to CSS through custom properties: pointer position, scroll velocity, battery, viewport, and 16+ more, no event handlers needed. #css #js prop-for-that.netlif...

I GOT THE DOMAIN! I FINALLY GOT IT!!!!!!!!!!1 🥳🎉 Paint.NET is now at paint.net! Well, it will be just as soon as I push all the buttons to migrate content and set up redirects from getpaint.net etc. For now it's just a "hey go here" redirect page.

API design is so freaking hard. Over the course of adding HLS support, I've redone the new API about 5 or 6 times by now. Sometimes you literally first need to see how Variant A feels before you know Variant B was better all along. And knowing you can't change it after release!

I’ve wanted to do this! Nice to see the thinking and have a way to talk to the AI as it works. Funny that this interaction pattern only works because AI is slow to process. As hardware gets better and processing gets faster this will necessarily go away.

I like having two projects. Having multiple is good because switching back and forth helps me get un-stuck on problems. Any more than two makes it impossible to dedicate enough attention to each one.

You have the wisdom of crowds in your pocket, available to answer your most specific questions on demand. I use it when I want to know "what would a thoughtful, well-researched crowd say?" My job is to be the unitary executive who makes final decisions and takes accountability for them.

Vertical jobs—where you end-to-end solve a problem—seem more stable right now than horizontal jobs, where you specialize in doing one slice of a process.

Just deleted my ChatGPT account. I'd rather use an LLM from a company that aligns with my values. I don't support mass surveillance or AI weapons without a human in the loop, and OpenAI does. The decision was made easier by just how good the other LLMs are. We are spoiled for choice!

I‘ve been writing a big spec for a library I’m working on and I really enjoy it. I’ve always liked UI work because I get to spend my time designing an output that feels good. Now API design feels similar.

Those things change often but are also low effort so I don't consider it a waste of time. Aside from that, agents really like using CLIs, so investing in that makes sense, I don't know if you saw what Hono was doing or not: blog.yusu.ke/hono-cli/
