the games themselves have moved toward them making funny animal noises or even sometimes mimicking human speech and i much prefer that, it is infinitely more charming to imagine a pokemon going HONK or just saying random things it heard like a raven does

imagine now that evil salt has been cancelled that salmon get integrated into splatoon 4 as a playable race but the salmonids don't turn into people or anything, they just stay looking like this but now with ink guns, outfits and eyeshadow. They turn into photorealistic salmon for swim mode.

ive been brainstorming this mario strategy game with its own alternate universe, the core conceit being that the story is more dark and serious in tone and yet everyone still just fights with cartoon mallets and fireballs and poofs into a coin when defeated here's a Peach design for said universe

decided to try spitballing a concept for a canadian goose fakemon. Water/flying is the obvious route but I decided to go for a Dark/Flying design instead, in reference to how geese rely heavily on threats and intimidation to ward off threats. thinking of calling it Gandaunt

Sandygast is a sleeper hit for 'dex value' thanks to its theming; it can be hard to get Ghost pokemon to fit organically into very many biomes, but beaches are such an omnipresent locale that it provides a very convenient way to pad out an often rare type Does this make any sense to anyone else?

something i think about a lot with Pokemon that most don't is the concept of 'Pokedex Value', ie the value a pokemon can add to any given region's dex for example, Altaria has high Pokedex Value by adding a weaker midgame option to a type typically reserved for powerful lategame monsters (dragon)

a lot of pokemon were a lot worse off in the earliest gens for various reasons but nothing quite gets me like how direly awful noctowl was it's not great nowadays, but between it having 10 less spatk, no special stab, being stuck with peck for flying stab, and waiting to 41 to learn *confusion*...
