Henry "Big Wins" Chan @pudymaster.bsky.social · 01/10/2026I don't know what else to say other than the fact that the way SA is so often turned into a spectacle against the perpetrator with little regard for the victims is heartbreaking and awful. 000
Henry "Big Wins" Chan @pudymaster.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Obviously, it's good the allegations against Geller have come to light. The fact that this happened (seemingly) without the consent of the victim is mortifying, however. She deserved better than this. 110
Henry "Big Wins" Chan @pudymaster.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Not gonna lie, Magenta Horizon straight up ruined air juggling for me. Sandbagging enemies can be fun, but having the air become a second battlefield is utterly exhilarating. Control Resonant is still fun, though. Wish they had an option for no magnetism, however. 001
Henry "Big Wins" Chan @pudymaster.bsky.social · 22/09/2026Wiktor himself is a man who has been thoroughly humbled by life, but after getting a second chance, he without hesitation gets his drive back. Has he learned humility from his years mired in madness, or simply that he can beat it so he needn't hold back? That's for you to decide. 010
Henry "Big Wins" Chan @pudymaster.bsky.social · 22/09/2026At the same time, being overly prideful dictates his behavior in ways you can't control, making the entire narrative and mechanical implementation something you'll feel torn between wanting to do and wanting to abstain from, perfectly aligning with Wiktor's own internal struggle. 100
Henry "Big Wins" Chan @pudymaster.bsky.social · 22/09/2026However, Pride isn't just a vice. Sometimes having pride in yourself is sticking up for yourself too, so it's inextricably tied to different threads even a genial player might want to pull on. Moreover, Wiktor is deeply arrogant, so picking the pride options just *feels* correct. 100
Henry "Big Wins" Chan @pudymaster.bsky.social · 22/09/2026The game then encourages you to choose the Pride options both by giving you gameplay benefits from feeding his flaw, but also by making writing the Pride dialogue options to be ones you want to pick. If someone is being a prick, picking the path of Pride lets you dress them down. 100
Henry "Big Wins" Chan @pudymaster.bsky.social · 22/09/2026The Thaumaturge is crazy good. Maybe its greatest strength is how effortless it makes it to roleplay as Wiktor, a man both aware of his Flaw of Pride and also pridefully in love with that. 100

Henry "Big Wins" Chan @pudymaster.bsky.social · 17/09/2026I think at this point they've hit the limits of what they can do in a framework designed around smaller encounter designs. Team Ninja wants to make a straight up action game. Please, for the love of god, just make that rather than tethering yourself to this formula. 000
Henry "Big Wins" Chan @pudymaster.bsky.social · 17/09/2026More than anything, however, what WL2 makes perfectly clear is that the soulslike formula is genuinely holding Team Ninja back at this point. There are parts of WL2 where it's like this probably would just be a sicko wuxia action game if it wasn't a soulslike. 100
Henry "Big Wins" Chan @pudymaster.bsky.social · 17/09/2026You can't really do the sick as hell move where you launch an enemy through his buddies if he's only got like three of them. There was one big group encounter that was so sick man, but the rest of the demo I didn't have another lmao. 100
Henry "Big Wins" Chan @pudymaster.bsky.social · 17/09/2026The true anchor around the game's neck, though, is the open field maps. Were WL2 a tight, linear action game, you could really put the combat through its paces and go nuts, but smaller encounters parceled out without strong encounter design undercuts everything. 100
Henry "Big Wins" Chan @pudymaster.bsky.social · 17/09/2026The camera is also still a soulslike camera, so it doesn't do great in frenetic group battles, but the parry being omni-directional does mean you can wade into the thick of it and do your sick wuxia martial arts and spells. 100
Henry "Big Wins" Chan @pudymaster.bsky.social · 17/09/2026There are so many smart changes to Wo Long 2's combat. Feels like a Nioh 1 to 2 glow-up. It does kind of depend on if they leverage those. For instance, you actually have useful crowd control and aoe abilities now, but if the game doesn't force group fights, it doesn't matter. 100

Henry "Big Wins" Chan @pudymaster.bsky.social · 02/07/2026One of the more baffling aspects to the attempted end of physical games is that having a physical store presence matters. If retailers legit just have a PS6 and no fuckin games it will hurt the bottom line lmao. Why would a retailer even have a games section at that point? 010
Henry "Big Wins" Chan @pudymaster.bsky.social · 28/06/2026The main thing I'm left wondering is how exactly all of this will work long term. Managing your short term survival is electrifying, but since open world survival games are expected to have long playtimes, I'm not sure how GSB will manage that. Not an issue for me, though. 000
Henry "Big Wins" Chan @pudymaster.bsky.social · 28/06/2026You also get the Dead Space stomp for resource free takedowns on downed enemies. However, you still need to aim it like your other attacks to try and get the head. It's balanced well too since it can incur bleeding injuries, either from getting bit or stomping through bone lmao. 100
Henry "Big Wins" Chan @pudymaster.bsky.social · 28/06/2026On top of that, locational damage matters and you need to carefully aim your weapon where you want to strike while accounting for the enemy movement and your own attack commitment. What type of weapon you use matters greatly as well. A sword is durable, but a scythe is safer. 100
Henry "Big Wins" Chan @pudymaster.bsky.social · 28/06/2026The combat is another great feature too. There's no dodging or parrying to undercut the enemies. You HAVE to utilize positioning. Your defensive options are fleeing or making use of physics objects to throw at enemies or block them off. 100
Henry "Big Wins" Chan @pudymaster.bsky.social · 28/06/2026Also, as a quick aside, despite there being quite a few animations (time commitments, really), Birmingham is still very responsive. Your actions are weighty, but it still feels good to control. They struck a very fine balance here that works perfectly for the game. 110
Henry "Big Wins" Chan @pudymaster.bsky.social · 28/06/2026I'm not really a more animations is more immersive person, but because Birmingham uses the amount of time they take to enforce consequences and careful thinking under pressure, it is a core pillar making the whole game work. It's SO GOOD. 100
Henry "Big Wins" Chan @pudymaster.bsky.social · 28/06/2026If you start bleeding and need to apply a bandage, you straight up CAN'T do it in combat. You need to either come up with a makeshift barricade, or else flee. To bandage your chest, there is an animation for taking the shirt off, bandaging, and putting the shirt back on. 100
Henry "Big Wins" Chan @pudymaster.bsky.social · 28/06/2026What's genuinely striking about the game, though, is its contentious design decisions. GSB is 'realistic' in that performing basic actions is a time commitment. Akin to RDR2's slavish devotion to animations, but in a survival horror framework that adds meaningful weight to them. 100
Henry "Big Wins" Chan @pudymaster.bsky.social · 28/06/2026You grab physics objects and move them around, either to throw, make barricades, use as climbing tools, and surely other interactions I haven't figured out. The zombies are also just slow enough to permit these actions, but also fast enough to add high pressure. 110
Henry "Big Wins" Chan @pudymaster.bsky.social · 28/06/2026God Save Birmingham (beta) is amazing. It's got a great mix of horror, action, survival, and exploration, all supported by remarkable physics interactions that just work. GSB feels like it has the tactility of a VR game applied to a zombie sandbox. 100
