Chambers is 22 I think? So if like to see him start at LB tonight which is I think his preferred position. The LB slot is there for the taking at the mo, with Kerkez and Tsimikas not at their best. Chambers did well pre-season, normally at CB. Let's see what he's got.

Iraola doesn't mess about does he. I think he's managing the midfield well. Basically saying to Mac/Gravenberch plus Nyoni and we need you all but you're not guaranteed starters. And Kerkez has struggled all season. No sure Tsimikas is the answer tho.

It basically comes down to this. If City think #Gakpo is worth buying, then for #LFC he's worth keeping, especially as, regardless of any incoming wingers, we're lacking proven goalscorers, and experience

Plus bearing in mind the amount City have made over the summer from flogging flops: £75m for Savinho, £56 for Gonzalez, £60m each for Reijnfders and Rodri (OK obvs Rodri wasn't a flop but he's 30+), £46m for Trafford ... Making a significant profit on players who did bugger all last season

On this showing, I'd be tempted to put Gakpo central, Munoz right and Rio left (or move Wirtz left, push Szobo up and bring on Grav). I know Isak needs the minutes but he's offering very little.

Can't really judge it after one game. And tbh I'd expect peak international CMs to be able to play 6, 8 or 10 as the team requires it! Mac A sits deeper for Argentina, Grav sat deeper for us for a whole season. Not saying I wouldn't like a cheeky Wharton bid but buying isn't always the answer.

We're used to playing 3 in midfield, 1 deep; 2 further forward but that can make us quite narrow. Iraola is a wingers man, hence two CMs holding or attacking as appropriate. If Endo leaves we could look short, but with Grav, Szobo, Mac, Nyoni we have a solid base (plus none injury prone)
