What does “down on sound” mean during an equine lameness exam? With front-limb lameness, a horse may raise its head as the painful limb lands and lower it as the sound limb bears weight. Identifying the limb is only the first step. #EquineHealth #PurdueVetMed

Meet Bella. After being diagnosed with osteosarcoma, she underwent limb amputation followed by chemotherapy through Purdue University Veterinary Hospital’s Oncology Service. Bella has completed her chemotherapy and is currently in remission. 🐾 #VetMed #Purdue

Bloat is a serious emergency in cattle. Gas trapped in the rumen can cause swelling on the left side of the abdomen, difficulty breathing, & become life-threatening without prompt treatment. Know the signs, and if you suspect bloat, contact your veterinarian immediately. #animalhealth #Livestock
