That’s so crazy – in Germany, a speed limit of 130 km/h is completely out of the question … other countries are much more progressive in that respect.

Using the same code for the energy-efficent RQA (from the paper doi.org/10.1140/epjs...) I found that the new Julia version 1.12.2 allocates more memory and is perfmoring slower than the previous version. 🤔

When using recurrence microstates from a #recurrence_plot we might wonder which kind of relationships they represent. We did a closer look in our recent study "Recurrence patterns correlation" journals.aps.org/pre/abstract...

Inspired by recurrence microstates, I developed an efficient, sampling-based approach for recurrence quantification analysis, significantly reducing computation time – and, consequently, energy consumption. Published today open access. #recurrence_plot doi.org/10.1140/epjs...
Line graph comparing computation time (in seconds, log scale) versus data length N (log scale) for five Recurrence Quantification Analysis (RQA) methods: RQA_RP, RQA_woRP, RQA_samp, RQA_samp², and RQA microstates. The graph shows that RQA_samp and RQA microstates consistently require the least computation time, while RQA_RP requires the most, with all methods increasing in time as data length grows.

You can find such statements in most journals and across almost all publishers. You would think that the whole discussion about the reproducibility of studies had never taken place.

It’s 2024, almost 2025—why are we still seeing sentences like "Data will be made available on request" in peer-reviewed scientific papers? This is no longer acceptable. Either share the data and code openly or provide a valid reason why this is not possible (e.g., privacy concerns).
