Have you heard of the Publish-Review-Curate (PRC) model of scholarly publishing? PRC reimagines scholarly publishing by breaking the traditional publishing process into independently executable stages: ✨publish, ✨review, and ✨curate.

A simple but (I think) compelling re-analysis of a paper that Director Bhattacharya frequently cites in his talks to claim that NIH-funded researchers no longer pick up the newest ideas. Dr. Bishop concludes the opposite using the same data. The original conclusion was contrary to my experience.

While i agree we need to be alert to weaponisation, the threat to put all Sylvain's papers on the #PubPeer site to obtain their retraction is empty. I think we should avoid amplifying this view of PubPeer as some kind of unmoderated site where anyone can make false accusations.

If scientific assessment shifted from counting publications to expert evaluation of their quality, the tactic of citing junk papers to support bad arguments would lose its power. More open evaluation by the community, more retractions, and fewer metrics would make science harder to hijack.
