Today we had the joy of hearing poetry from Mary McCallum, Dame Fiona Kidman, Francis Aschoff, Jordan Hamel and Keith Westwater at Aurelia Books. We’re working with Keith on his new book, ‘Sing to Me of Home’, published by The Cuba Press. #Kikorangi #NationalPoetryDay (Olivia, Maddi and Pariss)

Last week, we celebrated the 10th birthday of Massey University Press. What an achievement! Ākonga enjoyed meeting others in the publishing industry, and many friendly faces—some pictured—were also there to celebrate. #Kikorangi

Current and former students, tutors and instrumental people of the Whitireia Publishing course posed in a group photo. Three people kneel in the front and nine stand behind them. All are smiling.

Left–Right, former student Juliet Dreaver is with the publishing course tutors Simon Minto, Claudia Palmer, Theresa Crewdson and Sarah Bolland. They are standing in a large room with people milling around behind them.

One of the great things about this course is that during the year we get to help publish real books. On Thursday the Āporo Press project team got to meet their author. They are excited to work with @antzlapwood.bsky.social and his novel The Carnivore Diaries. Coming in 2026 👀 thanks to Āporo Press.

A few weeks ago we welcomed our 19th classmate, our air purifier, who has been hereby dubbed by the class as Phil Ter! ❤️ After an intense 15-minute voting period, the results were decisive. Unsurprisingly, in a class full of future publishers, we settled on wordplay. #Kikorangi

A photo of Phil Ter, the class air purifier, in the foreground. He is white with some dark detailing. He has been staged to look like he is wearing acetate glasses and reading a book. He is surrounded by cute emojis - pink and red hearts, hearts with blue arrows through them, gold sparkles and stacks of books. The background of the photo is blurred, with blue carpet, desks with desktop computers and windows.

A photo of the class whiteboard, with the suggested names and tally votes next to them. It reads: Name suggestions for the air purifier. Andy, two votes. Eragon, three votes. Agamemnon, five votes. Sully, seven votes. Aslan, seven votes. Phil-ter, nine votes. Bruce (the shark), four votes.

A full-length photo of Phil, a white air purifier, in the foreground, with a spotlight effect on him. The background is blacked out, with the blue carpet fading into black.
