I could see it working for very localized CBD/university shuttle systems, which aren't all a sure bet (like in Las Colinas, where it was built on spec). Elsewhere, it's better to build the mileage and then let ridership be a catalyst for improvements. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Las_Col...en.wikipedia.orgLas Colinas APT System - Wikipedia 000

ptbrennan.bsky.social @ptbrennan.bsky.social · 24/05/2026Yep. I picked up on this, too. I suspect it's the larger heavy-construction crews that tend to provide more stable careers, more regulatory capture, etc. On the flipside, I bet they aren't seeing nearly as many fall-related incidents as on a typical SFH site, where smaller cranes could likely help. 010
ptbrennan.bsky.social @ptbrennan.bsky.social · 24/05/2026The bigger safety issue with cranes is the way people work with or around them, which could be addressed by orienting more work/training around cranes of all kinds. ptbrennan.bsky.social @ptbrennan.bsky.social · 23/05/2026For a bigger 3-5 story job, whether using conventional framing or otherwise, we should also see a lot more self-erecting cranes deployed and left on-site for longer periods. ptbrennan.bsky.social @ptbrennan.bsky.social · 23/05/2026Hailing from suburbia, the crane trucks are widely available and, I'd argue, underutilized. $500-1,000 plus a small framing crew could get you vertical within a day on a smaller job using panels, with the same on day 2 for trusses and roof.
