"Trickle-down" is a bad-faith comparison to vacancy chains. Most households moving into new homes *move out of* existing homes. They give them up.* "Trickle-down" required no such sacrifice; those who had money got to keep their money, and have more.

IMHO, I've come to realize that this is even more fitting for 6-plex vs 4-plex comparison due to different code requirements and other constraints. Let's just try to be enablers of good outcomes.

We identified 17 of the 27 'grievances' in the Declaration of Independence with a contemporary analog. We then annotated those 17 grievances with quotes from federal judges across 52 court cases involving the Trump administration. The judges in their words (many referencing the Declaration itself)

One key point of agreement between these two news stories: "Preliminary information from police suggests the woman was unable to control the speed of her electric scooter and collided with the vehicle as it turned into a private drive."

How far can you get in 60 minutes? European cities offer vastly larger areas reachable by public transit than US cities of comparable population size. Source: lconwell.github.io/lucasconwell...

My latest from @planetmoney.bsky.social is about brand new research that looks at whether changing low-income neighborhoods into mixed-income neighborhoods improves outcomes for kids who grew up there. Potentially big lessons for all kinds of poverty alleviation policies. www.npr.org/2026/01/28/n...

A big problem in urbanism: getting enough family-sized apartments built in dense areas. Without them, people come when they're young & then flee to the suburbs when they have a family.
