❤️📖➡️ A classic 1960s novel exploring the ramifications of putting L£D in a town's water supply: June Drummond's 'The Gantry Episode' (1968). Also, a pretty naff bit of praise included about the author on the cover 😂 And no, it doesn't work irl as a method in treated water!

➡️❤️📖🍄 One from the library: Jeremy Sandford's curious book 'In Search of the Magic Mushroom' (1972). The book labours under a strange mix up between Fly Agaric and Psilocybe species, but noteworthy for helping spread news of Britain's own trippy species in its appendices.

Fierce Chemistry is a fabulous history of the d**g wars in Britain, written by Harry Shapiro - it went largely unnoticed when it came out in 2021, but definitely deserves a read for anyone interested in this topic. Excellent book ❤️📖🙏

The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross (1970) by John M Allegro. Controversial for arguing that Christianity has its roots in an ancient, mushroom using fertility cult. I'm speaking on a panel about it at @fungifestival.bsky.social this September - I wonder if people will be familiar with it?
