Black Friday is TOMORROW! Here we come full circle to Union Station! It was on the train home that Downtown Las Palmas was first sparked. This Thanksgiving I'm very grateful to Jason Tagmire and the @buttonshy.bsky.social crew for taking a chance on a first-time card game designer. Happy playing!

2 days! I've started seeing people posting about my game after picking up copies at PAX Unplugged. It's a cool feeling! When I took this pic at City Hall I reflected on the journey I'd taken through town that day, and the journey I've started as a game designer. Where will the road take me next?

3 days to Downtown Las Palmas! The turquoise terracotta, the art deco style, and the grand 4-sided clock make the Eastern Columbia Building one of the most breathtaking structures in downtown LA! Are you ready for @buttonshy.bsky.social's Black Friday sale? buttonshygames.com/collections/...

4 more days to Downtown Las Palmas! I wanted a building that fit the shape of a wide card without any sky in it, but wasn't a boring box either. The NHM is one of my favorite museums ever! It isn't a perfect rectangle but was simple to adapt to this shape. #ButtonShyGames #NHMLA #cardgames

8 days to Downtown Las Palmas! (for real now) The dragons of the Gateway Monument welcome you to Chinatown! I had a card with a section of sky between 2 smaller buildings and wanted to pull different features from various shops and gardens, with the dragons as a central setpiece to set it all off.

9 more days...? until Downtown Las Palmas! (I'll fix the countdown later) I love learning about the rich diversity in LA and how it's represented in its architecture. I wanted to reflect some of that in my game as well. This mosque is one of the few in town that has a minaret! #buttonshy #cardgame

10 days to Downtown Las Palmas! This is home to the LA branch of Hawk Anamorphic: When I saw the ivy-covered building on the train ride I knew I wanted it in my deck. It took a bit of work to figure out how to translate a leafy building into a useable card, but we settled on this textured look.

11 days to Downtown Las Palmas! The vibrant colors of this historic street had to take a back seat for players to understand which parts could score points, but I had fun adding little details to these store fronts that celebrate Mexican culture. #buttonshy #DTLA #cardgames

12 days to Downtown Las Palmas! Today we have the Tower Theatre on Broadway. This card started out as a church when I first sketched it, but I had a 2nd church design so I looked for a building that would fit a similar silhouette. I liked this theatre's clock! Good for "The Times" bonus goal.

13 days to Downtown Las Palmas! This is the Metro Headquarters Building at One Gateway Plaza. It was one of the first buildings I sketched when I came up with the idea for the game, you can't miss it when you're on the train to Union Station! #cardgame #buttonshy #sologamer #losangeles #dtla

Watching one of my favorite movies at one of the coolest theatres in Hollywood!

Inside the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. The ceiling showcases a golden scarab beetle surrounded by an intricate art deco/Egyptian-inspired design. The screen has a promo image for Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind.
