I use it most often for visual art 😄 It's normal that people don't really got around to using it because they don't have a specific use case right away. I learned TouchDesigner in school, so I didn't get lost as I have assignments that help me valorise each different part of the software

no wonder why Flusser said that "A designer is a cunning plotter laying his traps" and Papanek said that "Today, industrial design has put murder on a mass-production basis"
Quote from Mara Recklies - Philosopher, reposted by @the.thing.magazine on Instagram: "So imagine a design brief for creating a fascist infrastructure. That would require highly skilled, well-trained designers asking themselves, 'What would this infrastructure need to look like to work well within a fascist system?'. They wouldn't ask, 'Why are we building this?' or 'Should we be doing this at all?' They would focus entirely on how to execute the task as efficiently as possible. And that's exactly the problem."

besides Global South cheap labor exploitation, these AI systems construct their users everywhere as subjects of surveillance: productpicnic.beehiiv.com/p/the-ai-age... --- creative work requires a soul, which is something that isleofany lacks. the studio is a just propaganda machine.
AI is not “just a tool” because nothing is “just a tool.” All tools have embedded logic that guides you away from certain courses of action and towards others that its designers have chosen as more preferable. Tools and systems construct us as subjects.

The logic embedded within AI is the logic of surveillance, and so AI tools construct us as subjects of surveillance, with an impoverished sense of our relationship to our software. They normalize handing over privileged information and intellectual property without a second thought and try to make recording every screen and click of your PC a default that you have to actively opt out of.

ChatGPT and other AI systems consume more electricity than entire cities and it will only get worse. even if you want to opt out of AI catastrophe, your electricity bills won't, and your liveable climate won't. limited.systems/articles/the...
The current push for generative A1 is deeply problematic in many ways. In this article I want to focus on the very real environmental damage caused not so much by the technology itself as by the hype surrounding it.

In short:
- The hype creates an expectation of huge growth in demand for AI. Data centre companies have to start building capacity before demand is realised, even never materialises. As a result, data centre capacity is being built up right now at an unprecedented scale.

- This requires electricity generators to provision capacity for those future data centres, even if they would never be used.

- Without strong growth in demand, electricity generators would phase out fossil fuel generation because generating electricity from renewable sources is more cost-effective. Because of the AI hype, they are no longer phasing out fossil fuel generation as they want to maximise generation capacity to maximise future profits. New fossil fuel powered electricity plants are being developed as a result and existing ones are kept open for longer

- NYT editors are well-known zionists with deep ties to the Israel apartheid state. - the father of Zionism literally looks over them in their board room. - isleofany does the whitewashing at the moment ppl boycott NYT over its reporting newyorkwarcrimes.com www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgHg...

On the other half: screenshot from the site newyorkwarcrimes.com, featuring three notable people from the NYT with genocidial ties.

Isabel Kershner has cited her husband's Zionist think tank at least 100 times since starting at the Times in 2007. Both her sons have served in the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF).

Meredith Kopit Levien was still serving on the advisory council of the B'nai B'rith Youth Organization, whose goal is tc foster support for Zionism among Jewish youth, when she became the CEO of The New York Times Company in 2020.

Joe Kahn, whose father served on the board of Zionist media watchdog CAMERA, ordered a "racially motivated witch hunt" of his own staffers to stanch leaks about pro- Israel bias in the newsroom.

First half of the image reads:

Israel pays Google $45 million to help justify a genocide.
So here they are, ignoring the 680.000 people killed under their hands to talk about breathing lives into pixels.

The second half of the image is a tweet by @GoogleDesign:

Google right after signing the $45 million propaganda deal with Israel:
Image that reads: Abstract shapes can help people express themselves. When researching for M3 Expressive with Israeli characteristics, we have conducted several workshops, bringing to the table various sociologues, stakeholders along with designers around the question: who is "people"? Are Palestinians... people? Redefining "people" is one of our most revolutionizing and exciting work that we designers get to contribute. Our first tangible result? Removal of several barbarian symbols, such as any half-circle or full-circle shapes that resembles a watermelon.

Reposting from @mathqaf on Instagram: This poster titled ‘Thumbs Up for Palestine’ was issued by the Unified Information of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) in 1990, the Ali Kazak Collection, the Palestinian Museum Digital Archive.
Poster, print on some kind of creamed-color paper, roughly 60 cm by 85 cm. Encased in a rectangle box, a big, bold text that reads "Palestine" stands at the bottom of it. A big thumbs up in cartoon style breaks the top of that box, with the thumb itself featuring a palestinian face wearing the keffiyeh

Text that reads: What role can emotional design play in genocides?

Can snappy animations delight Palestinians struggling to contact their loved ones?

Can immersive 3D visualisations bring the evacuation map experience to the next level for families being displaced?

Can bolder and more expressive typography helps IOF terrorists balance their relationship with technology before running a bulldozer over hundreds of bodies?

I am so fucking angry because it's the same shit 100 years ago, when French sick fucks threw coins at the ground, amusing at the scene of Viet people scrambling for coins which are almost worthless, as if the Viets are nothing more than pigeons picking up breadcrumbs.
Still from a film made by Gabriel Veyre, in French Indochina (current Vietnam), between April 1899 and March 1900. It depicts two women (wife and daughter of Governor-General Paul Doumer) throwing small coins in front of Annamite (Vietnamese) children.

Western countries aid airdropping is a deliberate HUMILIATION campaign against Palestinians. Let me say it again, humiliation campaign. There is nothing humanitarian or humane about this. So many Western people are barbaric savage sick fucks pretending to be "civilized".
Tweet by Palestinian poet Mosab Abu Toha: "For those who praise the airdropped aid: this is what was found inside one of the boxes. Enough humiliating us." The "this" he's referring to is shown in images of disgusting moldy food that really no one can eat.A screenshot of an Instagram reel by @basem.in.sign showing people scrambling for flour and sand from the ground due to severe hunger in the northern Gaza strip. Some of the comments on this reel include: how can the world be such a cruel place with 104 likes, this is a disgrace against all humanity with 141 likes, etc.

Any tool haha. Photoshop, Procreate, Figma, Illustrator, PowerPoint, etc. basically anything with multiple artboards support. I mostly use Figma so I organize my frames into an autolayout grid, then I rename all the frame into 1,2,3... and when I'm done animating, I export them into a folder.

To demonstrate how this spirit can be replicated within design softwares, I experimented with low-fidelity frame-by-frame animation. I put together a storyboard and then I start adding in-between frames. It's an unconventional way to prototype, but I'm pleased with the process overall.
Screenshot of the frames used in the animations. The frames are neatly laid out in a grid on a surface

Sometimes I prefer making art directly in code because it's faster & more precise: I can edit object properties without ever having to use my mouse. In addition, my editor interface is a lot less cluttered: there's only a notebook and an output.

The shortcut Ctrl+/ hides all sidebars in Figma. This feature comes in handy when we want to see our designs without any obstruction. However, to modify anything on screen, we have to turn the sidebar back on. What if there was another way? What if Figma possessed a fancy shortcut machine?

Filter: Discover

This filter highlights algo-recommended content,
allowing you to discover new people

--

Filter: Following

This filter highlights new activities from people
you follow. Dots bubbling means recent activities

And below it are the buttons that let you choose the filters: Discover, Following, Popular with friends
