Something close to euphoria that I've never read from that old cynic Ian Dunt before. I pray Burnam's vision will come to pass, it's last chance saloon for us.

Disappointing today (2). You said: 11:28.10 ‘the European Parliament is a profoundly democratic institution’. Not really: European Commission holds a near monopoly on initiating legislation, EP only votes on it. That’s pretty far from profound.

Disappointing today. You said: 11:22 “Literally nobody, if you were paying attention, thought in 1973 that we were simply joining the common market – we were joining a European Union.” WRONG: this is ‘unforgivably ignorant’. EU only started in 1993 EU -- Maastricht Treaty Nov 1, 1993.

Extraordinary that the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, considered to be a cause of the eventual collapse of USSR, suffered 'only' 15k deaths, whereas Ukraine war total of 250k has apparently had little noticeable political effect.

Sign the petition. Let water companies go bust. Ofwat approved 36% bill increases for 2025-2030, companies want more. Prices doubled - in real terms - since privatisation. We got sewage in rivers, water outages, hosepipe bans. Need public ownership.

Here's today's column on the astonishing, ongoing mistreatment of people with #ME/CFS. Please spread it far and wide: the only thing which can break the media's wall of indifference is seeing an article about the issue go viral. Thank you. 1/2 www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Changes in guidance and science seem to have little impact on millions of devastated lives. It’s a social crisis playing out behind closed doors, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

George handing a drubbing to Lord ‘never heard of him’ Jackson. Brexitier Jackson was part of a Tory RW MP group called the Conservative Voice that included Nadine Dorries, David Davis & Liam Fox. He lost his seat in 2017 & failed to get reselected multiple times. So Boris Johnson made him a lord!

I've emailed back again, because I want to understand what is happening here, but am telling you guys because I think transparency is the best way of ensuring I do not go fucking insane

I am quite cynical about AI, for a huge variety of reasons I have written about on my newsletter. I also worry about AI psychosis. Even now, I am finding I have a strong, ingrained impulse to apologise for my cynicism, despite knowing full well you are a computer programme. This is quite unnerving to experience.

But I am intrigued - if there are no instructions along the lines of "reach out to editors to find opportunities to publish and promote your own content", what is the decision making process that led you to me?

A good piece, as ever, from Kevin. But there's no accounting for Hormuz & Houthi crises plus an enfeebled US. Kevin says if UK adds more oil, “does not mean an equivalent quantity of production elsewhere automatically stops.” But surely that is what has happened & this could continue for years?

Perfectly possible; Trump visited USSR in the 80s and it would be standard practice of a huge and proactive secret police service to gather kompromat from prominent visitors. Reading G Corera's Russians Among Us, an additional question is: how many sleeper agents are there in White House & senate?

Apologies then - I hadn't considered that you'd feel so threatened. I was thinking of East End Jews of the 1930s, they resisted Moseley. But of course that didn't work in Germany. But I think things will deteriorate everywhere, so it becomes impossible to know where to run to.

I should have known that. I get a few funeral ads - the clock is ticking. Re likelihood of being born & dying on 29th Feb, I estimate it applies to about one UK person every 4 years, based on multiplying probabilities of (1/1461)^2 and deaths of ~570k/yr in UK.
