I attended a “reunion” today with women who I attended school with and played sports. I graduated in 1979, all girls school. There were several years represented. The best part, was my volleyball coach attending the reunion, and me being able to tell her that I am now a volleyball coach!

It’s a given that we will teach students of parents who we taught or know outside of the classroom. I’ve taught 3 students of parents whom I worked with at my part time job, and will add another this year, and the granddaughter of a HS classmate. Not to mention all the siblings!

I responded to a post on the book about the SC’s transgender decision. They referenced females now being safe unattended in locker rooms. I commented “just don’t leave them unattended in the Oval Office”. 99% of the negative responses (and downright nasty) comments were from males? I was surprised.

I hate driving. I also hate riding in cars driven by other people. I WANT to sit in the backseat so I can’t see traffic. Every time I get in a car, I have this irrational fear of being involved in a wreck. I know I drive like an old lady (I have for years), but this can’t be normal. Is it just me?

Would like to say I turned off my 5:15 alarm for 2 months, but, even though my profession isn’t considered “professional”, I still have to get 24 ours of professional development. And some of that takes place in the early morning hours of summer break.

Every week I buy at least one or two boxes (36 ct) of these bars. Even kids who aren’t my students ask for them. I was shocked that the box I brought yesterday had one left over at the end of the day today, which is also the last day for kids. My wallet needs a break!

Lived in KY all my life until 2.5 years ago. I voted in November 2024 in Ohio but today is my first primary. Didn’t know you could choose which party you voted for so yes, I voted repub so I could vote for anyone other than Ramaswamy.

A branch from this tree took out the right side of my garage. It is coming down tomorrow and even though it’s dead, I’m going to miss hearing the woodpecker and birds, and seeing the same birds hang out on a daily basis.

Question. My youngest sibling was diagnosed with DCIS breast cancer in 2016. Lumpectomy and radiation and she has been fine since. 2018 our maternal aunt was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer and passed in 2019. My sister was advised to get genetic testing done.

I was contacted today by a former student asking about a book we had read his senior year. Knew all the details but not the name. We chatted about the book plus he also mentioned Fahrenheit 451 and how much he loved that book. Folks, the students at this school were on an 8th grade reading level.

I teach sophomores. I mentioned to them that I met & talked with George Clooney at a frat party before he was famous. His dad was a famous local newscaster then and that’s why people were interested in him. They had no idea who he was even when I mentioned all the movies he was in. I feel old!

It’s a good weekend to be/live in the Gr Cinti NKY area if you’re a sports fan. Big HS game at Paycor tonight-Elder vs St X. UC vs Louisville right next door at Heritage. Tomorrow UC-BYU at Nippert. FCC vs InterMiami Sunday at TQL and of course the Bengals have a game Sunday too.

I have very chatty classes this year (no cell phones). I didn’t realize what I had done when I told a student to “sit his a** down” and the class was eerily quiet. Forgot that I had talked about how I only use curse words when I’m really angry. At least they were paying attention.

KY passed a law that bans cellphones during instructional time. Our school has consequences in place and for the most part, they are working. A positive side effect? Students are actually talking to each other. On the flip side, they talk all class long! And at lunch!

I teach sophomores, and there is something magical that happens between the end of the school year and the beginning of the new year. The amount of maturation that happens to most, if not all of them, takes my breath away. And I love how they come see me and give me hugs!

To follow up with the family member conversation: “illegals are drawing from social security, and grade school kids are still allowed to go through gender reassignment.” Also, “my daughter said she was glad I didn’t make her a boy at 12 because she was such a tomboy”. Not how that works but okay.

I lost both of my furbabies today. Sadie (L) was mine since 2013 and had cong heart failure, Foxy (r) was left with me in 2022 when her mom was evicted. I actually knew Foxy before Sadie came to be my protector when I moved in next door 3 months before Sadie’s gotcha day. Pics from this morning.

It finally happened! I found gas for $1.99 just like he said! Of course it was actually 2.99 but I had a dollar off gas at Kroger. And I only had that many fuel points because groceries are so freakin’ expensive it doesn’t take long to accumulate 1000 points.

We sold my parents’ home in 2015(2yrs after they passed). I took a cutting to root and plant. After an initial planting, then two moves, it has finally bloomed. Mom knew I needed some love.
