Jalal al-Din Qa'ini's Nasa'ih-i Shahrukhi was just published by the eminent Iranian colleague Ghulamriza Amirkhani. In my opinion, NS is one of the most, if not the most, significant late medieval political treatise. Its discussion of politics is outside of the earlier advice+ #Timurids

Uzbekistan never did commission an independent investigation - no one has ever been held accountable for the deaths of unarmed protesters in #Andijan in 2005. Addressing the lack of accountability for past abuses isn't high on this administration's agenda either. thediplomat.com/2025/05/20-y...

I've been stuck in afwul #Oxford traffic for nearly an hour coming back from @bodleianlibraries.bsky.social, so before my battery runs out have a miniature! This one is from MS. Canonici 122, a copy of the #Persian #Sufi epic Intikhāb-i ḥadīqah by Sanāyī (supposedly edited by Farīd al-dīn ‘Aṭṭār).
Page from a medieval Persian manuscript with gold vegetal margins containing two cats next to a miniature of man in an orange tunic kneeling before a woman in blue and red before a purple background.
