Yes! Anthony Parisi's tape from E3 1998 has possibly the only surviving video of the US debut of Final Fantasy VIII, including six full minutes of the Squaresoft staff fumbling with the projector trying to get the trailer to play archive.gamehistory.org/item/3996212...

Note: The 30th Anniversary release of Rayman apparently has a different soundtrack to the original in 1995. Rémi Gazel, who passed away in 2019, was a key figure in composing the original soundtrack. Many fans are currently speculating that the new music is due to unfortunate licensing issues.

A question for the PS1 fan community! I sometimes recall seeing clips of a PS1 game (Japanese I think) set on some kind of space station or ship, and between missions you could visit a small bar area. I believe someone here or on Twitter posted about it. Any idea what the game is? It looked neat!

🕹️ Bytes of Gaming History ⌛ From the pages of Gamest magazine: a photographic glimpse into the heart of Squaresoft's offices in Japan during the development of Final Fantasy VII in 1996. That's one helluva multi-monitor setup they've got there!

Two designers wearing suit shirts and ties sat and stood behind an array of five monitors of various sizes, two of them small PVMs on a shelf, along with keyboards and other computer tools. Various development screens for Final Fantasy VII can be seen.

Here's a big one... Craig Stitt allowed us to scan the original concept art for Spyro the Dragon. The Insomniac artists matched heads and bodies together until they found the right design. We scanned this at high resolution so you can see all the detail. archive.gamehistory.org/item/86406ba...

A drawing of Spyro the Dragon, stitched together from multiple drawings. There is whiteout visible on the drawings as they iterated on the character's design.
