Functions of ancient clade WOX transcription factors in regenerative responses of the model moss P. patens and the model seed plant Arabidopsis. WOX13 orthologs in P. patens regulate elongation of protonema stem cells from the cut leaf. Similarly, Arabidopsis WOX13 promotes formation of highly expanded cells at the wound site.
