So it wasn't just me.

Also most (all?) digital imaging/drawing technologies and programs. Don't tell me that there weren't people who were incandescent with rage over the idea of someone drawing on what is effectively a very large touchpad to create art, because there absolutely were.

It wasn't a question of when I realized it so much as when I accepted it. Much like coming out, at first I denied being weird, but eventually accepted and embraced my weird.

True, but not because of $10/month spent on anything.

...given time. Generally, anytime the brain is getting sensory inputs from everywhere all at once, it tends to be a period of stress, or fun, like a full body orgasm. Lots of fun but not something you want to last forever.

There's clearly a minimum threshold. If you had no vision, hearing, smell, sense of touch, or awareness of your own body, how could you have consciousness? But I don't think losing a limb makes you less conscious, it just lowers the maximum possible sensory inputs that could be received at any...

Again, until it's not. Either you're claiming that local roadways will never be as safe as motorways, or; we shouldn't try and limit motorway deaths, even if they become the leading cause of vehicle fatalities because of significant reductions in local roadway fatalities.

Oh! The most obvious exception: when talking to a dog. Always acceptable, and indeed expected, to ask a dog if they would like some tummyrubs.

...speed, but most motorways also have laws about driving too slowly, and it's easy to add a few more cameras at each overpass, to track your average speed over shorter intervals.
100
Proud Anselmo @proudanselmo.bsky.social · 11/10/2026
However, if the implication was your intent, then it's wrong. You only need to record a person's entry and exit times to and from the motorway to calculate their average speed during their trip. Sure, you could speed for part of the trip, then slow down later for enough time to drop your average...

Proud Anselmo @proudanselmo.bsky.social · 11/10/2026
You said more speed cameras are used on local roads, than on motorways, and seemed to imply it was because enforcing speed limits on local roads is more important than on motorways. If you did not intend that implication, why mention that there are more speed cameras on local roads than motorways?
100
Proud Anselmo @proudanselmo.bsky.social · 11/10/2026
You need to use more speed cameras/km on local roads than you do on motorways in order to achieve the same level of enforcement.
100
Proud Anselmo @proudanselmo.bsky.social · 11/10/2026
Not quite. Motorways are controlled access, which means that compared to local roads, you can actually have more effective enforcement of speed limits and with fewer cameras,

Proud Anselmo @proudanselmo.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
Also, I'm not against speed cameras at all. Those countries with higher speed limits and fewer fatalities use them extensively.
100
Proud Anselmo @proudanselmo.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
It's not dumb at all. Some countries with higher speed limits have lower fatality rates than those with lower speed limits. Therefore, lowering speed limits will not necessarily guarantee a reduction in fatality rates, nor will raising speed limits raise fatalities.
100
Proud Anselmo @proudanselmo.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
You seem upset that I pointed out a major flaw in your argument.
100
Proud Anselmo @proudanselmo.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
Obviously speed is not the only factor, and also obviously it's possible to have higher speed limits and lower traffic fatalities.

No, because they work by causing each eye to have a different focal point.

Proud Anselmo @proudanselmo.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
You mean that in several countries with higher speed limits on their motorways the traffic fatality rate is substantially lower than in the US?

I wouldn't even say her comparison is off. AI can do many things that are harmful to people, even if not directly, yet, and there seem to be credible allegations that it has helped people end their own lives, and the lives of others. Using an LLM to do these things herself (the planning, not the...
