As men get older, the prostate can enlarge and sometimes cause urinary problems. An enlarged prostate isn’t prostate cancer, although some symptoms can be similar. Find out more about the prostate, prostate cancer, risks and symptoms on our Prostate Project website:

What is the prostate? The prostate is a small gland, about the size of a walnut, found just below the bladder. It’s part of the male reproductive system and helps produce the fluid that makes up semen.

Thanks to your donations, we’re funding PhD student James Thetford & his research into why prostate cancer affects men differently. James is looking at the links between ethnicity, the microbiome & prostate cancer, using samples from Black, White & Asian men. This is the first UK study of its kind

Men should be talking openly about prostate cancer. There is nothing to be embarrassed about. Early prostate cancer often has no symptoms, know your risk and talk to your GP about having a simple PSA blood test.

Our Man Van travels across Surrey, Hampshire and West Sussex, taking free PSA testing out into local communities, but keeping it on the road comes at a cost. We’re looking for commercial sponsors to help towards fuel, maintenance, testing kits and our professional phlebotomists.
