Small announcements can still make a real difference. But they need to add up to something bigger, a clear plan for growth. Backing business, investment, innovation and the private sector should be at the heart of the new PMs plan.

The public wants secure borders and control over who comes to Britain. But legal immigration is a different question. When skilled people come here to work, create jobs and strengthen key industries, that can make Britain more prosperous. www.prosperuk.com/an_immigration_plan_for_growth

Regional mayors know their economies better than the Treasury. Give them the power to retain local tax revenues, invest for the long term and deliver growth, with clear accountability for every pound spent. Read our latest policy proposal: www.prosperuk.com/set_up_for_s...

Kemi Badenoch is right to seek candidates with serious experience beyond Westminster. But the Party must remain a broad church. Requiring agreement on every major issue risks shutting out talented people, narrowing the party’s appeal & making it harder to build the coalition needed to govern.

PIP needs more than another review. It needs reform that puts work first while protecting those who need support. www.prosperuk.com/a_fairer_wel...

A packed town hall in Guildford. A business roundtable with local SMEs and employers. Real conversations about what is holding growth back. This is what taking politics beyond Westminster means: listening first, then building serious policy around the real barriers people face.

The question is not whether we refight the referendum. The question is how the UK works with its closest allies and most important trading partner in a more dangerous world. Help shape our policy work on the UK’s relationship with the EU. www.prosperuk.com/britain_s_fu...

Ten years on from the EU referendum, the UK needs a practical debate about Europe. But not another referendum argument. Instead a serious look at how we improve trade, support growth and work with our nearest neighbours in the national interest. Have your say: www.prosperuk.com/britain_s_fu...

Ten years on from the EU referendum, the right question to ask is not how people voted in 2016. It is what relationship with the EU best serves the UK’s interests now. Trade. Defence. Security. Growth. We want your views. Take the survey: www.prosperuk.com/britain_s_fu...

Welfare spending needs to be brought under control Health & disability spending is rising rapidly. The triple lock is uncertain, unpredictable & increasingly expensive A sustainable welfare system means lower pressure for future tax rises, room to invest in growth, & stronger incentives for work

Pension reform does not mean cutting pensions. A smoothed earnings link would keep pensions rising, protect pensioners in high-inflation years, and avoid permanently locking in exceptional cost spikes. That is a fairer settlement between generations. www.prosperuk.com/a_fairer_wel...

You work hard. You make your student loan repayments every month. Yet the amount you owe keeps rising. For many graduates, that is the reality of the current system. It is not fair, and it needs to change. Join the Fair Fees campaign: www.fairfees.uk/sign

Prosper UK @prosperuk.bsky.social · 16/06/2026
A smoothed earnings link would protect pensioners when inflation rises faster than wages. But it would then return the state pension to an earnings-based path. That means protection for pensioners, greater certainty for taxpayers, and a more sustainable system over time.

Prosper UK @prosperuk.bsky.social · 15/06/2026
The time is right to move on from the triple lock. It is uncertain, unpredictable and expensive. A smoothed earnings link would protect pensioners from inflation, make the system fairer, and free up more money for priorities like defence.

We have launched A Fairer Welfare System. Welfare spending is heading for £406bn. Our plan: reform the triple lock, restore in-person assessments, make work pay, and protect those who genuinely need help. www.prosperuk.com/rebalance_th...

If you need to earn over £66,000 before your student loan balance starts going down, the system is broken. That is not a normal loan. It is a tax on aspiration, work and getting on. Sign the petition: www.fairfees.uk

Rachel Reeves says student loans are “fair and reasonable”… Meanwhile, in the real world, graduates are paying 9% of their earnings for up to 30 or 40 years, while many cannot even reduce the balance. Sign the petition: www.fairfees.uk/sign

We heard it again in Liverpool. At our roundtable with Downtown Busines, businesses were clear: they want to invest, hire and grow. But high taxes, rising employment costs, planning delays and skills gaps are holding them back.

Cardiff. Birmingham. Edinburgh. Politics works better when it listens to the people and businesses driving the country forward, not just the Westminster bubble. This summer, we are going further, Manchester, Newcastle, Exeter and more.

Work can pay. High streets can recover. Public services can improve. Communities can feel proud and confident about the future. The centre-right is the answer to angry populism. Optimism and vision, backed by a relentless focus on growth.

Farage said he would wipe out the Tories. He hasn’t. But it’s clear from early results, the Conservative coalition of 2019 can't be rebuilt because Reform is not going away. The route back is something akin to the 2015 coalition built on trust on the economy and a pro business approach.

Immigration is complicated, and getting it right really matters. That’s why we’ve been sitting down with experts, listening properly, and working through the trade-offs. Better policy starts with actually hearing what works and what doesn’t.

Reform need to get over losing by-elections like Gorton and Denton Designing policy to target places that don’t vote for you isn’t serious, it’s petty, vindictive and sets a dangerous precedent Britain needs solutions built on evidence, expertise and a plan that actually works, that’s we are doing

People are feeling the squeeze from every angle, prices, taxes, mortgages. Even when wages rise, it doesn’t feel like it. We need proper, sustained economic growth. Nothing else will fix it.
010
Prosper UK @prosperuk.bsky.social · 25/04/2026
The economy is the number one issue. Because it shapes everything else - jobs, living standards, public services. This is why Reform will hit a ceiling. You don’t win trust without a serious economic plan.

Prosper UK @prosperuk.bsky.social · 24/04/2026
We need to talk about Europe. The EU is our biggest trading partner. If we're serious about growth and higher living standards, we need fewer barriers and a more pragmatic economic relationship.

Just 36% of young people think they’ll be better off than their parents. Down from 63% in a year. Turning this around will mean difficult choices and a serious focus on growth, housing, and living standards.

The Mandelson and Matthew Doyle scandal shows once again Westminster is a system that too often looks like “jobs for the boys” - not what you know, but who you know. If we want to raise standards in public life, politics has to open up and be based on merit, not networks.

Prosper UK @prosperuk.bsky.social · 22/04/2026
Elections aren’t decided by who shouts the loudest. It’s decided by who looks credible, serious, and capable of actually governing. Simplistic answers and divisive rhetoric might win attention, but they don’t win trust. Britain needs pragmatic, pro-growth politics, not populist noise.

Prosper UK @prosperuk.bsky.social · 20/04/2026
As David Lidington says, people around the PM are there to ask the hard questions first Advice was clear: Peter Mandelson should be vetted before he was announced Starmer ignored that advice When leaders say one thing and do another, trust collapses No wonder confidence in politics is so low

Five years ago, the UK was the go-to destination for global tech talent outside the US. Today, we’re not. The reason is simple: other countries are making it easier to hire, easier to move, and more attractive to build a career. We’re falling behind. That has to change.

Prosper UK @prosperuk.bsky.social · 16/04/2026
Financial services should be a major driver of UK growth. But to do that, we have to be the most attractive place for the world’s best talent. Right now, tax and regulation are making that harder than it should be. And that is starting to show. Getting this right is central to delivering growth.

At the end of Town Hall in Birmingham, someone came up and said: “You’ve inspired me - I want to stand.” He’s now a candidate in Solihull. This is how momentum builds - not online, but in real conversations, happening across the country.

A moderate, inclusive, economically serious Conservatism isn’t a compromise. It’s the only way to win, and the only way to govern well. It’s how you offer a real alternative.

These are businesses keeping high streets alive, creating jobs and serving their communities. But they are clear about the pressures. Higher employment taxes, business rates and VAT are all adding to costs - squeezing margins and forcing tough decisions. That is not a recipe for growth.
