Stumbled upon this during my walk while stopping in at the local gas station. Couldn’t help but think of @cheapshow.bsky.social—that and Polpis sounds poultice adjacent Will report back in a bit There’s a QR code on the back which leads here: nantucketcrisps.com/products/polpis…
A bag of pickle-flavored Nantucket Crisps (or as the company calls them, Polpis Pickle). The picture on the front shows a mustached pickle with a captain’s hat, glasses, life preserver riding on a small boat. The brief about Nantucket Crisps talking about how they make their crisps GMO-free with healthy fats (avocado oil) while donating a part of their sales to the Whale and Dolphin Conservation (WDC).

Here’s where I am in 2026 (along with my blog): prompted.ink/2026/02/28/current-sta… Let’s get these goals done this time and then some! #blogging #books #BookSky
Three things sit on top of my desk, from left to right: A tape from the band Pocket Vinyl titled “Banned Books”, a iPhone displaying the Libro.fm app on the “Pimsleur Dutch Level 1” audiobook, and an orange box from Magnetic Poetry Kit consisting of Dutch words that can be arranged into sentences.

Going to blog poll results later in the day, but for now here are my #FridayReads for the months of February and March. Been reading through Free Ride the past couple weeks and it’s been both a comfort read and a thrilling journey from one of my new go-to YouTubers! #BookSky #Books
Three books stand upright on my desk, from left to right: More Everything Forever by Adam Becker, Free Ride by Noraly Schoenmaker, and The Perfect Game by Henk Rogers.

Been a long time, but I’m starting off the year with a #FridayReads that I started after seeing Cory talk at R.J. Julia’s. I’ve had this copy for over a decade—when I first got hooked on Cory’s writing—and I thought it was about time to read through his first novel!
A paperback copy of Cory Doctorow’s “Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom” with a pinned, mechanical hand reaching out to the sky. A stretched-out, humanoid version of the iconic Mouse logo waves underneath the title next to an animated, smiling plug.

I came back from my walk awhile ago and your Christmas card showed up in the post! 🎄🐓 Going to frame this one for sure! 😃
A Christmas card featuring a brown-feathered chicken diving underneath a strand of evergreen pines. The text underneath the chicken reads: “Fijne Feestdagen”.

*More or less cutting out my excessive snacking and walking much more. Doctor’s orders. Results in graph.
The weight graph from Apple’s Health app, showing my weight loss over the year. It starts at around 290lbs (20 Stone and 10lbs) in January and ends at approximately 195lbs (13 Stone and 13lbs) in December.

Finally got the chance to meet one of my heroes in-person yesterday during one of his book tours! I was way more nervous than the picture suggests, but Cory Doctorow isn’t just a fighter for better tech (and a more open web), but he’s also a humble legend! Thank you, Cory, for everything!
The storefront for R.J. Julia Booksellers at night adorned in evergreen garlands and yellow Christmas lights. There’s a wreath above the store sign covered in similar lighting. A tall man on the left (me) awkwardly standing next to a proper legend (Cory) at the checkout desk. A signed copy of Cory’s latest book, Enshittification, with a sticker of the iconic swearing poop emoji sitting underneath his signature. The dedication above reads, “For Bryan— Seize the means!”

Ringing in 450 episodes of @cheapshow.bsky.social by putting on their vinyl debut. Came in the post a week ago, but wanted to wait until the big moment to unwrap & give it a proper spin! 🤩🪩🎶💷 10 years, 450 episodes, two well-deserved awards! Keep on rocking you lovely people! 😎✨

Haven’t got myself a cassette player yet, but I’ve got one more tape that I couldn’t pass up on #BandcampFriday. Having it hand-delivered was a pleasant surprise! 😊📦 Thank you again, @pocketvinyl.bsky.social, for the tape and all the music over the years! Here’s to many, many more! #indie #music
Four cassette tapes standing on top of a bookshelf with the latest one on the right-hand side, titled “Pocket Vinyl: Leaked Demos: 1990”. The cover art depicts a bunch of oranges with some of them stacked in a glass pan with the frame of the case itself sharing a lighter shade of the fruit.

I decided to swap out the Unbound Reading Club pin badges—which used to be in the bottom-center of my desktop shadow box—with the Iconfactory duo and it feels complete to me!
A shadow box containing a plethora of pin badges from a Tardis Console and the Hitchhikers’ Guide book cover, to classic computing callbacks and gaming iconography.

Interesting fortune from tonight’s takeaway dinner… …I think that’s my cue.

It’s a bit early here in the US (GMT -5/EST), but I’ve got morning shift duty so I’ll say it early: Happy New Year! 🍾🥳🎉 2024 has been a quiet year on the blog, and a bit of a rough ride overall. I’ve got plans to keep myself sane for next year (and to ensure that 2025 is a good year).
A page from the Acknowledgments section in Cory Doctorow’s book, The Bezzle. I’m pointing at my own name—at least that’s what I’m assuming since it’s spelt correctly.

Got it hung up on Saturday and it looks amazing! 😊 🎄
Part of the family Christmas tree—about halfway—with the Christmas Card ornament near the center of the picture. To the northwest is a badge (or coin?) depicting the USS Constitution while a toy mouse sleeps on top of a pocket watch right behind the Christmas card ornament.

You’re welcome! 😊 Your card came in the post on Thursday. It looks amazing and I’m looking forward to placing the ornament on my tree! 😃🎄

...and that's a wrap. I've officially deleted my Twitter after 13 years! If you see someone on there with my name and handle from here on (possibly using my photos), it's not me. Sad to see the bird-site decay like this, but it was for the best.
A Vivaldi Private Browser window on my former Twitter profile informing me that my account there is officially deactivated. A close-up of my Twitter profile after deactivation via search. The username's still there, but the network now notes, "This account does not exist."
