Ghada, a school nutrition staff member at Horace Mann Laboratory School, wanted to bring her favorite Lebanese flavors to the cafeteria. With our support, she brought a shawarma spice blend to the school that students loved, giving them a chance to eat foods from their cultures or try something new.

Since H.R. 1 was enacted in July 2025, approximately 5.5 million people have lost SNAP. Since January 2025, SNAP participation has declined by approximately 6.3 million people. These are real people losing access to food assistance they rely on.

Since last July, when the Big Beautiful Bill passed, SNAP participation has declined. Stricter eligibility requirements are lowering enrollment, and the restructuring of SNAP’s funding, beginning in October, will shift administrative costs to states. We must advocate for a robust SNAP program.
