It wouldn't surprise me if the Trump administration sold tickets as well.

It's a sickening kind of perfectionism in which those who wish to impose religious dogma get to play martyr.

Instead of religious freedom, where believers can practice their religion as they see fit without interference from the state, it’s a demand for religious dominance, where the state forces everyone to live in accordance with one religion’s dictates. If I can’t control them then I’m being oppressed.

You're forgetting the other side of the equation. Universities also need to hire world-class educators. Peer review exists for publishing but not for teaching. Most profs do not take a B.Ed., but teaching ability is of equal importance to research. Students agree; admin could care less.

Nothing better than listening to Mike Huckabee affirm his pro-life stance as grounded in the intrinsic value of human life. But when asked about the slaughter of Palestinians, he quickly reverts to relativizing their value. It's a rhetorical technique better known as "yes but no."

Best decision I ever made was getting students to write their essays in class. No AI, no policing, no stress, and never going back to uploaded, non-secure essay assignments.

The problem with "bothsidesing" is that one side screams "free speech" loud enough so that its adherents can smuggle in a prejudice--and then give it a life in our institutions.

Israeli officials should be far more upset about the nearly 75,000 Palestinians they murdered and 175,000 they injured over the past two years and less worried about labels.

Canada is not actually 'battling for survival' in the context of secession, because in both Alberta and Quebec secession has relatively small amounts of public support. What we're battling is dipshit far-right populist politicians enabling/pushing for this destructive bullshit.

Never laugh Chris Rufo off, but let's call a spade a spade: he's a grifter who lobbied his way into conservative political circles. Charlie Kirk comes to mind. Like Rufo, Kirk was a permanent adolescent. Like Rufo, he was an unapologetic disinformation machine. That’s the legacy of these two men.

What's sad is that, when you read the rationale behind these pro-life laws, the supporters of 19th-century abortion statutes openly brag about the integration of church and state. They want laws infused with Christian dogma and care not a wit how their perfectionist ideology impacts women.

When I travel to Europe, citizens ask me the same thing: how could they vote for Trump the second time, especially after the Capitol attack? The reasons are many: ratings-driven news media; brainwashed citizenry; clinging to the American Dream; hypocritical evangelicals; intransigent voters.

Just imagine what's in Trump's head every waking hour: greed; anger; grievance; prejudice; vengeance. This is why he is to be pitied, and this is why he is a dangerous fascist. American voters in November must decimate the Republican party.

Yes, for early Beatles, this is true, but is this true for all musical trends? The Beatles were a massive influence on progressive rock, but when prog rock groups were filling stadiums in the 1970s, men were the trend setters and taste makers. You could barely find a woman at those concerts.

I hope Trump gets destroyed in the midterms. Voters need to marginalize Christian nationalists, white nationalists, Islamophobes, apocalyptic hawks, and conspiracy theorists. Right now, too many of these crackpots have access to power.
