Oof someone needs to update their bio
FIGHT. Rebecca Katz has been a key advisor behind some of Democrats’ most high-profile and unlikely victories. In both 2022 and 2024, she was behind the highest over-performances of any winning Democrat in a Senate battleground. This includes John Fetterman’s dramatic win while overcoming a stroke and $100 million of attack ads, and Ruben Gallego’s election as Arizona’s first Latino Senator.

Rebecca ran Democratic Leader Harry Reid’s War Room in the U.S. Senate, assisted with the planning and execution of the White House’s communications strategy for then-Judge Sonia Sotomayor’s confirmation to the Supreme Court, and helped Planned Parenthood fight back against the unprecedented assault on women’s health after Republicans assumed control of Congress.

In January 2025, Rebecca and her partners created Fight Agency to help original candidates fight tough battles in politics. The firm has since signed up with candidates such as Zohran Mamdani, Abdul El-Sayed, and Graham Platner.

A Philadelphia native, Rebecca has been a driving force behind some of the most unconventional, creative, and successful campaigns in recent memory, many of which were not taken seriously by the establishment.

If you want to live in those conditions at all cost let your next of kin know. I personally would not, even if my body gasps or whatever
Most donated organs in the United States come from people who are brain-dead — an irreversible state — and are kept on machines only to maintain their organs.
Circulatory death donation is different. These patients are on life support, often in a coma. Their prognoses are more of a medical judgment call.

They are alive, with some brain activity, but doctors have determined that they are near death and won’t recover. If relatives agree to donation, doctors withdraw life support and wait for the patient’s heart to stop. This has to happen within an hour or two for the organs to be considered viable. After the person is declared dead, surgeons go in.

The United Nations independent international commission of inquiry (COI), which does not speak on behalf of the UN and has been criticised strongly by Israel, cited the scale of the killings, aid blockages, forced displacement and the destruction of a fertility clinic in the territory to support its finding of genocide.

And, what's more, EV batteries are lasting longer than expected, according to Recurrent, whose community of 20,000 EV drivers states just 2.5 percent of battery packs have been replaced outside of manufacturer recalls. The fear of coughing up more cash than the car is worth to swap out a
broken pack lingers in the mind of any driver whose EV is no longer protected by its manufacturer's battery warranty, which often lasts for eight years or 100,000 miles.
That said, battery failure is rare, and many aftermarket warranty providers now include EV battery cover, according to the RAC, a British breakdown company.

Reddit post: “…you're wondering why you can see things in a mirror when standing off to the side of it? This is because light reflects off of the mirror at whatever angle it strikes it.

Imagine you have a tennis ball that you throw at a wall directly in front of you. It would bounce right back at you. But if you turned 45 degrees, so that the ball struck the wall at an angle, you wouldn't expect it to come right back like before. Light does the exact same thing. That's why when you move while looking in a mirror, the view changes; it's because you moving is changing your angle to the mirror.”

Subheading: President Trump and his advisers say his policies may cause short-term pain but will produce big gains over time. Many economists are skeptical of those arguments.

Yeah because if Kamala won Michigan she would’ve won the election. Oh no? She’d still not have won PA? Well at least Arab-Americans are to blame for her losing MI… oh wait. But why let facts get in the way of being an asshole?
The drop in Democratic support in Hamtramck, Dearborn and Dearborn Heights – three Michigan cities with the nation’s largest Arab American and Muslim populations per capita – represent nearly 27% of the 81,000-vote difference between Harris and Donald Trump’s tallies in the state.

Hayes says his main investing goal is to retire comfortably. When he first bought crypto at 21, he experimented with trendy meme coins and lost at least five figures. But crypto's boom in 2017 helped him buy his first house. He believes traditional stock investing via his 401(k) and Roth IRA won't gain fast enough to offset the cost of living.

Another paragraph. No real pushback or data is given. It’s just “well here’s two opinions, the C-suite one seems super reasonable and side note some people are denied care.”
Several of the executives described a feeling that, simply by playing their role in the system, insurers had unjustly been cast as villains. The industry had not always done a good job of explaining itself to customers, some of them acknowledged, even as they expressed frustration with characterizations they saw as unfairly negative. Many expressed a belief that, despite imperfections, their companies played an important role in keeping costs down and helping patients access appropriate care.

The level of rationalization in that article was a sight to behold. Cognitive dissonance is a hell of a drug.
Quote in article: “Lots of us were feeling like we were horrible because we’re being accused of working for the evil empire,” the employee said. “But we all do the best we can to do a good job in the system we are in.”

More like Fox News. Very messed up, irresponsible coverage—but it’s Fox News.
In reality, he said, his remarks were taken out of context. “This had nothing to do with Biden and Harris,” he said in the interview. He never mentioned them, he said, and he had told Mr. Trump that he was fighting Con Edison over his bill. That comment did not make the final cut on Fox, though he shared his own, more complete recording on Instagram.
He said he wanted to hear Mr. Trump answer: “What are you going to do to help me fix the situation?”

Mr. Rodriguez said he was initially frustrated by the negative attention. But he later said he was grateful because it had made Con Edison tend to his bill with urgency.Fox News was unaware of the billing error before broadcasting the segment, Jessica Ketner, a spokeswoman for the network, said. “We are happy the segment highlighted this issue,” she added, allowing Mr. Rodriguez to seek a solution.

Alt text
In his opening speech to the Constituent Assembly, Adolfo Suárez, the prime minister of the Spanish transition to democracy, announced that henceforth "the future is not written, because only the people can write it" (Verou 1976). Heralding this plunge into the unknown, he caught two quintessential features of democracy: Outcomes of the democratic process are uncertain, indeterminate ex ante; and it is
"the people," political forces competing to promote their interests and values, who determine what these outcomes will be.
Democracy is a system in which parties lose elections. There are parties: divisions of interests, values, and opinions. There is competition, organized by rules. And there are periodic winners and losers. Obviously not all democracies are the same; one can list innumerable variations and distinguish several types of democratic institutions. Yet beneath all the institutional diversity, one elementary feature - contestation open to participation (Dahl 1971) - is sufficient to identify a political system as democratic.
Democracy is, as Linz (1984) put it, government pro tempore. Conflicts are regularly terminated under established rules. They are
"terminated" (Coser 1959), temporarily suspended, rather than resolved definitively. Elections fill offices, legislatures establish rules, bureaucracies issue decisions, associations arrive at agreements, courts adjudicate conflicts, and these outcomes are binding until and unless they are altered according to rules. At the same time, all such outcomes are temporary, since losers do not forfeit the right to compete in elections, negotiate again, influence legislation, pressure the bureaucracy, or seek recourse to courts.
