I’m reacting more to the media in the US today during and immediately after the match—mostly NBC/Men in Blazers—which depicted Man City and their fans as plucky and resolute in the face of a tough Anfield crowd while mainly ignoring the cheaters’ guilt.

The media seems to think that their guilt shouldn’t matter because their play is so breathtaking.

“That’s a victory for being thick skinned and defiant”, says Peter Drury. Funny, because I thought it was a victory for repeated cheating to the point that the football club should be kicked out of English football.

I fucking love Liverpool you know. Pushed these bastards relentlessly for years when everyone else just wanted us kept off our perch. Kept them quiet today with no senior forwards fit, kid who was at stoke last season up front playing his heart out for us. Took 2 dodgy cards to lay a glove on us.

The media narratives—the “most controversial football club” will surely spark “debate”—are representative and bullshit. What a team performance by a team constructed on the cheat! They are corrupt and the Premier League is a farce until they’re expelled

No idea why Sky are so excited. Until the punishments are handed down the season means nothing. The game is a farce now, the League table a nonsense because there’s no competitive football till this has been resolved. No one will end today with points so why bother? We might as well wait till August

As disappointed as I am, this is probably the perfect result to sum up the sorry state of the Premier League as it stands. We’re watching a sham. The cheats still prosper.

Peter Drury basically just said the same thing on the American broadcast. The Premier League has an integrity problem until City have been expelled.

No one in the media will mention that the match referee is from Manchester. They won’t talk about it on coms. It’s never mentioned because English exceptionalism means referees being bent is for dirty foreigners like in Italy, not for our good old British boys.

Definitely nothing at all suspect about a referee from Manchester just making up two fouls in order to send off our best performing player in the match & hand the advantage to a team literally found to be cheating & paying people off the books. Nothing at all suspect about that.

After reading some of the recent pubs and discourse around US higher ed.… I should just stop right here. But here are the three major fallacies of much of what’s out there, three contexts that are missing, and the one big thing that is driving me around the bend (actually already there, but). 1/

I repeat: the province was named after the lake, not the reverse. “Ontario“ means ”lake of shining waters” in Haudenosaunee. It’s been called that since before the US or Canada existed.

Well, I'm just now reading about this particular show--evidently the crowd broke through a security fence during Day Tripper and stopped the show, and maybe that's why they played Rock and Roll Music twice? Do you know if you were among the 2500 fans who rushed the stage?

I'm sure you're not alone in being unable to recall the music. No one in the crowd could hear it.

Ugh! I think it's okay to send the paper back with a message saying you won't read it until it's the proper length. A commenter did that to me at the beginning of my career for a paper that was 2 pages too long. But it taught me to respect people's time--both commenter and audience.

Things that help calm the nervous system, quickly: - Box breathing (in for 4, hold for 4, out for 4, hold for 4, repeat) - Immerse your face in cold water (activates mammalian dive reflex) - Humming (stimulates vagus nerve) - Exercise (anything helps, outside even better) - Impeachment and removal
