You do look good. This was the first thing that popped into my mind. You're just missing Freddie Mercury.

The rhetoric reminds me of the ineffective parent who just keeps upping the ante with increasingly over-the-top threats that are unenforceable and won't actually change behavior: you're grounded for the weekend! A week! A month! A year! Until you leave for college! Bellicosity is all they can do.

Josh, what are the options at this point, given the Court's excessively broad interpretation of executive power and embrace of the unitary executive theory? What can Congress do on its own? Will this require an amendment?

Chris Karpowitz @profkarpo.bsky.social · 29/06/2026
Andy, what's the remedy here? Court reform? Amendment? What can Congress do on its own when the Court embraces the unitary executive so completely?

Chris Karpowitz @profkarpo.bsky.social · 29/06/2026
Is there a congressional remedy here, E.J.? Or does the Court's embrace of the unitary executive (except, apparently, for the Fed) require an amendment to undo?
010
Chris Karpowitz @profkarpo.bsky.social · 29/06/2026
Tom, do you think the Congress has recourse here? The loss of independent agencies (except for the Fed, apparently) is significant. But the Court's reading of executive power is so ridiculously broad that it seems to constrain Congress from responding. Do we need an amendment to remedy this?

Excellent Bouie piece on the birthright case. Especially how it points out that every academic backing Trump has either explicitly rejected Trump’s take in the past or somehow written extensively on the 14A without raising it (and implicitly rejecting it)… and have no new evidence now. Gift link:

The Trump Administration has used the power of government to restrict broadcast of a conversation about politics, the meaning and purpose of Christianity, and the role of religious belief more broadly. Chilling.

I was shocked when I saw that, too! We talked about it our last meeting and are watching closely, as we really value the reviewers’ time, but it definitely caused a chuckle for us as well! Would that all manuscripts had such willing referees!

We typically have to invite somewhere between 8 and 12 to get 3 timely completes. Don’t worry, we’re monitoring closely so that we won’t waste anyone’s time! On rare occasions, multiple reviewers will complete at the same time so we have more than 3, but that’s the exception.
