I dumped Search a while ago but am still working on the email. It's such a pain.

The first picture genuinely hits me hard. I love it

I agree - I rolled my eyes several times - but it was still satisfying to watch said idiot author become disillusioned.

Well that is just rude.

Maybe it's just a weird year. (... botanically.) The other type of ornamental clematis looks really different too. Left is its usual color, right is current. It's not just a trick of the light, it looks pinker and almost like it's glowing! Really eye-catching.
A side by side of two different photos of flowers. They are of the same plant in different years. One shows a bloom that is lavender with faint stripes, while the other is more pink and the stripes are much more distinct.

After 7 years, one of my ornamental clematis finally decided to reach out horizontally and take advantage of the top crossbar of the trellis. I'm happy that it finally looks how I'd imagined! But also a little confused that it took this long.
A photo of a vine with large dark purple flowers. It is wrapped around a support structure, mostly climbing vertically but with some tendrils starting to grow horizontally along the top.

tbh they spread a lot, I've avoided giving them to anyone else because of that, but you seem like you'd keep an eye on things And thanks but no need to worry about a trade! Depression has kicked my ass the last few years. I'm so far behind on yard work that I don't even know what I'd plant where.

Sure! You live in north, right? I could drop them off on my way to work some day this week. I'm not too worried about the transplant schedule - I have to remove them anyway, and they seem pretty tough. If they don't make it, I can give you more at a better time.

Wait really? Jfc, I really need to learn more about native trees and shrubs, I had no idea they could get that big. Somehow I've failed to get any good pictures, but these do get super pretty in the fall.

Nope lol, the original one is a good 8' tall and sprawling everywhere. Not sure about the spice part; I only recently learned about the wonders of sumac, and haven't had a chance to try these ones out yet.

Sawhorse Girl @profirebug.bsky.social · 01/06/2026
Bummer :( My sumac cultivar has a million offshoots, if you'd be interested. IIRC they're this variety. Don't know how "native" they really are. www.gertens.com/tiger-eyes-c...

Rhus, Staghorn Sumac 'First Editions® Tiger Eyes®'
An exciting plant featuring finely cut tropical-looking foliage which emerges chartreuse in spring, transitions to bright gold through summer and then offers a fabulous fall display of yellow, orange ...

They say it's "safer" to back into a spot, and apparently insurance companies agree, but these are the same tools who bought a giant truck they didn't need and drive way too fast, so clearly they don't give a shit about safety. I'm pretty sure it's actually a weird dick measuring thing.

They are relentless. I've seen this happen to multiple neighbors. I'm glad you came out on top, at least for now

I really should have known better. City squirrels are terrifying.

Sawhorse Girl @profirebug.bsky.social · 30/05/2026
Turns out if a squirrel is yelling at you in your back yard, you should not ask "What are you going to do about it, you little bitch?" while giving it the finger. Turns out the answer is "chew through the fascia board into your attic, and also possibly sabotage your hammock."

I know you said these aren't verbatim, so I don't want to get too worked up about Klob's response here, but "I would mobilize the national guard to protect towns from cyber attacks" what??

There is a weird mindset here of not interacting and I don't get it. Like I've literally seen people say that you shouldn't comment/reply to someone if you don't know them. ?? (Idk what Twitter is/was like, since I never really used it)

Most of the cool stuff was removed from my house too :( I think all I've found was some remnants of (absolutely hideous) wallpaper, a hand saw with a (broken) spoon-carved handle, and an old union pin.

It's gutting. What has Oregon even done recently?? We deserved this

Sawhorse Girl @profirebug.bsky.social · 26/05/2026
They do that to me too, but luckily haven't actually killed anything yet. Occasionally they sample a ripe tomato

Wise decision, it's easier than going to war with an organized crime gang.

Do they eat the fruit, or just damage the plant through their usual shenanigans?
100
Sawhorse Girl @profirebug.bsky.social · 26/05/2026
Do the rabbits target it? They murdered my plum sapling a few years ago and I'm still wary of trying new fruit plants. Luckily my kiwi vines got established before the furry little bastards got really out of control. Still have to protect them, but at least they can take a little nibble now.

Oh that would be awesome! I've been checking my usual resources since I got home, and I haven't even found any for sale yet. Glad I could save you the drive, especially with having to borrow a car. I live a lot closer, so it was nbd. Was planning to offer you one, but that's hard to prove now lol

I'm going to be so mad if we lose to fucking Oregon, of all places. Hawaii would have been acceptable.

I have cut-leaf coneflowers in my boulevard and they THRIVE. Like lots of them get 6' tall every year. They do not seem to mind the salt or the dry or the compacted soil.

I've worked in all 3, as well as coal and gas power plants, and I would absolutely feel comfortable living next to a nuclear plant. Not so much the others.

This is a cat checkpoint. Relinquish your most recent cat photo from your phone
A photo of a grey and white long-haired cat who is poking his head out of a paper bag. His eyes look unusual because the bag is pulling his skin tight as he pushes his head out.

Wow, Teamcraft had a bit of a learning curve, but it's a hell of a resource! Thanks for that. Now I guess I should try and get said relics, in hopes I can actually craft some level 100 shit... (Yes, I kept this post open for like 5 weeks so that I could reply to it later)

St. Cloud, Minnesota. I've never had an actual bad experience there, but something about that place puts me on edge. (Never been to St. Cloud, Florida, but I did have the best donut of my life from a bakery there, and I don't even *like* donuts. So Florida wins in this one very niche category.)
