Thanks! I think Vatican II as response to the war is a hermeneutic that becomes clearer with some distance (and the re-emergence of what it suppressed).

Yup and the “normal people like car-based suburbs” ignores that a) they don’t have much choice (many would like one rather than two cars, more options and b) the sustainability of that lifestyle especially in exurban form.

The US Democrats need to look at their next Presidency as an endless sprint to obliterate MAGA, every day for years. Until the cancer is gone then there should be no time wasted on MAGA tears or conciliation. Only endless justice and rebuilding the democracy. Govern like every day is the last day.
